Tapping her thick soled boots against the concrete, Futaba peered around nervously. The inside of this store was both a heaven and hell; filled with merchandise galore, but also with people!
She's done this before though, so this shouldn't be so bad! She kept telling herself that, but her rising perspiration and thumping heart told her otherwise. Just before the doubtful thoughts could come rolling in, a voice filled her ears instead.
"Futaba, you made it!" A happy voice called, and she smiled at the sound.
Futaba didn't have much time to respond before you tightly hugged her, and she surprised even herself with the noise of shock that left her mouth. "Agh, can't breathe...!"
"Oh, sorry." You apologised with a laugh. "But you did it! I would've took the train with you if you wanted to though."
The bespectacled girl shook her head. "No, I had to come myself. It was a necessary step!"
You nodded in complete understanding. "Congrats then! Did the trophy pop up yet?"
Your cheerful demeanour began to influence her own, and she chuckled a little, the previous anxiety melting away. "Well, you did..."
She seemed to have blurted it out without meaning to, and she suddenly went wide-eyed. But you only reacted positively.
"So I've evolved!" You hummed a jingle to add to the statement, and Futaba smiled to herself. "Oh, we should go in already. To the merch!"
Letting out a squeak, Futaba wobbled a bit as you tugged on her hand, but managed to keep her footing as you walked into the store together. It might've looked like she was getting dragged, but in actuality your grip was very soft. And the longer she thought about it, the warmer her face got.
When you were first introduced, it was easier for her to make conversation once she found out the similar interests you shared. Plus with your sunny disposition, Futaba didn't feel the fear of talking like she normally did. It seemed obvious that you two would make good friends, and you did.
Of course Futaba was overjoyed, as besides Kana, she never had one. She even made friends with the rest of the group too. She did wonder though why she got this fluttery feeling when around you though- was that just the feelings of camaraderie? Maybe she was just really rusty with her social interaction, that's why she was getting sudden rushes of emotions like this. That made logical sense, right?
"Look!"
Your voice broke her out of ever running thoughts. "What is it?"
Following your pointed finger, a poster was on the wall. "The new season is coming out soon! About time, I've been dodging manga spoilers for months."
"Hehe, if you caught up you wouldn't have to be scared of spoilers." Futaba said, pushing up her glasses.
"My to-read list is way too long already. And the directer for that anime is godlike! You can't blame me for wanting to wait." You replied, and she laughed at your seriousness.
You huffed at her giggles but smiled. "When it airs though, we should watch it together. And do not even think of spoiling me!"
"I won't. Buuuut, you'll like this one scene where-" Futaba grinned when you put your hands over your ears.
"Stop, you demon!"
Futaba laughed in victory, and you huffed as you let your hands drop. Still, you couldn't control the smile that spread along on your face too.
"Speaking of that series though, I wonder if those new figured have shipped out yet." You pondered.
"Are even able to buy them? You got that new figma last week." Futaba pointed out.
