With the date of Yusuke's and yours anniversary coming up, you wanted to do something special for the first for many to come, and so came up with the idea to paint for him. As art was his passion, you hoped that'd the painting you'd make would be as held closely to his heart as you were.
You were all prepared, with a reasonably sized canvas and a set of paints. Plus, you looked up all kinds of tutorials! As long as you took your time, you'd be alright!
Your confidence didn't waver after a few brush strokes, but when changing colours you misjudged the sharpness of your arm movement, and ended up with a stark contrast of colours; and not in a pretty way.
"Oh!" A noise of surprise left you after seeing the unplanned for line. Smiling sheepishly to yourself, you scratched the back of your head with your free hand. Well, one mistake is probably fine, right...?
However one mistake soon turned into many, and they weren't limited to the canvas itself. After your first mishap, you planned to abandon your current brush for another, placing it in the cup of water. Which was fine, until you reached for another brush without looking, picking up the wet one, this marking the canvas with a trail of damp spots.
Unfortunately your troubles hadn't ended there, nor was your unluckiness with the water. You stood up to stretch, accidentally knocking into the small table next to you. The cup tipped forward, and the contents spilling to the floor as well as yourself.
What fell with the cup was also the brushes, which were still rolling along your floor.
"Oh no..." You muttered to yourself. In a hurry to save your try of art piece, you didn't watch your feet. "A-Agh!"
Due to that, you slipped, and tumbled to the ground, the table joining you in a heap of paints and brushes.
Somewhat in a shock, you lay on the floor amidst the mess, raising your head to see the splatters of paint along your hands and clothes.
You sighed, letting your head drop again. It was becoming increasingly clear to you that you weren't as well-versed in the arts as Yusuke, as much as you wanted to share the same passion as him.
The door suddenly burst open, and soon enough a familiar figure was standing by your doorframe. It was Yusuke.
"I heard you yell, what's wrong?" He questioned sharply, looking about the room. His clear concern only made you feel worse. What was a try to make him happy only made him worried.
"Um... Well, a lot." You admitted, sitting up. After surveying the room for signs of an intruder, and soon seeing nothing of the sort, he looked back at you with relief.
He approached, putting down his back to hold his hands out. You took them, frowning as you heard the brushes begin to roll again from the movement. He pulled you up with ease, and he didn't let go even after you had stood up properly.
"So, what did happen?" He asked. You looked around, feeling mortified.
"I... Wanted to paint you something." You mumbled. "For our first anniversary..."
Yusuke's tipped to the side in confusion. "Hm? Sorry, I didn't catch that."
Face possibly burning even more, you repeated yourself. "I wanted to paint you something! Since it's our, y-y'know."
He gave you a warm smile. "Yes, our first anniversary. I remember."
You couldn't help but smile yourself, despite your current embarrassment. "Y-Yeah... But, it uh... Didn't go too well..."
Yusuke finally took his eyes of you to once more to looks around, his soft gaze falling to the abandoned canvas. "Oh... That's really something."
You slapped your hand to your face, groaning. "Believe me, I know."
