"Hmm..."

Flipping the page, you read the next line wordlessly, while Ann hummed thoughtfully beside you. She invited you over to her house for a simple hangout which the two of you did frequently. Some might think it'd be awkward to sit silently like this, but it was peaceful to you.

Ann sighed loudly. "Hrrm, almost..."

Well, almost silent. Glancing over,  you watched her grumbled under her breath as she leaned closer to the handheld mirror. You raised an eyebrow.

"What're you doing?"

"I saw these tutorials online, and thought I'd try them out, but..." The blonde turned her head, revealing a shakily drawn black line by her eye.

"Oh, wow." You were in sincere awe at the sight. "That's... Something."

Expression the definition of frustrated, Ann looked back into the mirror with a frown. "How come they make it look so easy! I swear my hands weren't this shaky before!"

You attempted to hold in your laughter, but small chuckles still escaped from beneath your palm. "I don't think that's the best alibi. The fashion police will be knocking any minute."

"But I have you as a witness! They can't take me in." She responded with faux confidence, pointing towards you.

"I don't know, I'm seem to be getting some amnesia." You shrugged, trying to keep a straight face. When Ann began shaking your shoulder, it broke immediately.

"That's way too convenient!" She jokingly argued, and the conversation devolved into laughter.

As the last of the giggles from Ann dissolved, she smiled. "Hey, I have an idea!"

"And what's that?" You put your bookmark in place, closing the book and setting it aside.

Turning her body to face you fully, she beamed. "You can do my makeup for me!"

You paused, not sure if you heard her properly. "Um... Why do I have to do that?"

"It'll be fun!" Ann promised. "And besides, it's the least you could for me after throwing me in makeup jail."

"Pfft, alright." You agreed, sitting a bit closer. "Wouldn't it be better to ask a girl to do this though? I can't really say it know what I'm doing."

Ann laughed good-naturedly. "Neither do I! But I think you'll be fine. I mean, your weapon needs really fine precision doesn't it? It's pretty similar, right?"

"Not at all."

She swiftly poked your arm as you reached for the make-up wipes. You laughed a bit.

"Okay, okay, hold still." You instructed, holding up your hand. She complied, closing her eyes as you wiped away the black line. It first became smudged, until eventually it was if it was never there in the first place.

"There, evidence destroyed." You said, smiling when you heard Ann giggle softly. "So... What now?"

Ann gestured to the table. "I've got a bunch of stuff there. Use whatever."

"Um, yeah... That just makes me more confused." You admitted.

She playfully rolled her eyes, pointing out the different items. "Lipstick, eyeshadow, mascara, it's all there. Just don't make me look like a clown."

You nodded to yourself as you inspected the items. "Now there's an idea,"

"Don't even think about it!" Ann warned, to which you just chuckled.
