Last Rites (Best Friend! Adrian Andrews x Reader x Matt Engarde)
A/N: Trigger warning for mentions/situations of su*cide!
Your Pov:
I sat in the hotel room, trying to block out the voices of the police officers and detectives. Adrian stood next to me, silent as she read her book.
Juan was dead and Matt was the culprit.
I had taken a position as Juan's manager. I wanted to keep Celeste's memory alive for as long as I could. But now, I felt lost. I was swaying on the edge but I couldn't bring myself to fall or step back.
Adrian had attempted once before and the situation scared both of us. I remember speaking with her the day after the attempt.

.
"(Y/n?)"
"Yes Adrian?"
"If I would've been successful, would you be writing my obituary?"
"No. Just like I told Celeste. I won't write your obituary. But before I let you go, I will sit with you and give you reasons to stay. I will sing your favorite songs and read you your favorite books. But I will not write your obituary."
"I see...Thank you..."
.

.
Adrian and I...two sides of the same coin. One part left alone and one part tragedy. And I was going down the same route Celeste did.
I had feelings for Matt Engarde.
But I ignored them and pushed them away. I would not give in to one of the men who drove Celeste to her death.
...
Adrian looked up as the detective entered the room. I watched as they spoke quietly for a few minutes before Adrian turned to me. "I have to go testify down at the courthouse. Are you coming?" I shook my head. "I'll wait here. Good luck."
With that, the two left.
Every news channel was broadcasting the trial. I watched from the couch as the trial continued on. Then, the unimaginable happened.
Adrian admitted to tampering with the crime scene. She admitted to pinning the blame on Matt, but she claimed she didn't kill Juan.
I could feel myself shaking. I knew that Adrian cared about Celeste, but I didn't know that she'd go that far.
Adrian spoke up. "And for the record, Juan's manager, (Y/n) (L/n), didn't know about any of this. She is the only innocent party in all of this."
And even when everyone was against her, she still defended me.
But I couldn't watch anymore. I turned off the TV and got into bed. As I closed my eyes, my phone began to ring. The caller ID showed the detention center's number.
I knew who was calling.
I answered it.
"(Y/n)...?"
"Matt."
The detention center allowed defendants to make supervised phone calls every now and then.
His voice still held the same warmth and charm as before. "Adrian...She's been taken to the detention center for questioning. I don't think they'll let her go anytime soon..."
