Some Advice (Miles Edgeworth x Reader)
Your Pov:
I trudged into my best friend's office, ignoring all the looks I got from the detectives. I shut the door behind me. Miles looked up from his desk, "Don't tell me..." I nodded. He sighed, "Again?" I looked away. He continued, "What is it with you two? It's on and off with you guys. Like a light switch, but you don't have a light bulb."
I stayed silent. He frowned, "Do you even love him?" I turned away from him, "H-He cheated on me." I heard the chair screech on the floor. Miles came behind me and gently turned me around, "For how long? Why? Wait, none of that matters right now."
He brought me into a hug, which surprised me. He pulled away and looked at me, "No man who cheats on you is worthy of you, nor your love." He put his hands on my shoulders, "And I get it. Some people make mistakes and bad decisions. Are you willing to forgive him?"
I looked down, "I..." He sighed, "Look at me." I kept looking away. He huffed, "Look at me in my face and tell me he's worthy of a second chance. If you can't do that then... it's time to move on." Tears rolled down my cheeks.
He sat me down on the sofa and sat in front of me, "Think of it like this: if a light bulb in your house burns out, you don't buy another house, right? You just buy a new bulb." I wiped my tears away, "I guess so." I bit my lip, "I feel a lot better now."
He nodded, "Good. Now, I'll be right back. Stay here." He got up and left. About 30 minutes later he came back. He had a small cut on his face, but other than that, he seemed alright. I rose an eyebrow, "What did you do?"
He chuckled, "Don't worry. All I did was give that pathetic excuse of a man a reality check." I sighed, "You're insane." He spoke, "I only did what needed to be done. He doesn't deserve someone like you. You are amazing." I blushed slightly, "T-Thanks."
He nodded, "Now, how does dinner sound? We can go to your favorite restaurant if you prefer. And forget about what happened today." I nodded. He continued, "Oh, and don't worry about your things. I sent Detective Gumshoe and a few others for them. They'll drop them at your home after they finish up."
I smiled, "Thank you Miles." He shook his head, "No need to thank me. I just wanted you to feel better. I couldn't just ignore you." I giggled, "Well I certainly feel better. I should get going so that I can help Gumshoe and the rest of them with my things." He nodded, "Alright. I'll see you at 5:00 sharp for dinner." With that, I turned and left his office, feeling a lot better while my heart felt a lot lighter.
