Sisterly (Miles Edgeworth x Lana's! Sister! Reader)

A/N: This chapter mentions abuse and violence. Please take caution.

No One's Pov:

The prosecutor's office and precinct were busy following the murder of Bruce Goodman. This, however, was only a part of a bigger scheme.

One that could tear a family apart.

Or bring them closer together.

In a detention cell, sat Lana Skye. For the first time in her life, she was scared...afraid. Not for herself, but for her poor, poor sister. She had left her with the monster that had ruined their family. She wanted so badly to tell someone, but...

She learned to keep her mouth shut the first time.

It had been only a year ago.

(Y/n) had just turned 20 and started working as her aide. Then, the absolutely unimaginable happened.

(Y/n) finally met Damon Gant.

And she loved him.

But, within 6 months of their relationship, she received a horrible, terrible phone call. It was (Y/n). Lana listened to her pitiful sobs as she explained that he had hit her. Lana knew that the police weren't an option at that point. So she decided to seek help from someone else.

Miles Edgeworth.

He had loved (Y/n) since the beginning. When Lana told him about the incident, he was furious. But Lana, she felt the consequences of her actions chill her to her very core when she received a text from Ema.

Ema had apparently received a text from (Y/n). It said that he had hit her again, but completely bruised the left side of her body by kicking and punching her. And that he did it because Lana told Miles.

She felt immensely guilty, knowing that she couldn't protect her sister from this monster, knowing that if she would've kept her mouth shut, none of this would've happened.

She cried silently in her cell, covering her face with her long hair.

To Miles...

He paced around his office. Part of him wanted to get (Y/n) away from the abuse, but the sensible part of himself knew that doing that would cause more backlash. He decided to take matters into his own hands.

He drove to the address Lana had given him. The land was occupied by a modest house with a grass lawn. It seemed to be empty though. He parked the car and walked up to the front door. It was unlocked. He opened the door and stepped inside. The air was heavily stained with the smell of cigars and whiskey.

Further in, clothes were strewn everywhere and drawers were left open. It looked like a tornado had ripped through the house that day. He called out to her.

"(Y/n)? Are you here?"

But no body came.

He left the house, but not before taking some photos as evidence and dropping a bloody rag into an evidence bag. The blood worried him, but he had to get it back to his office.

Back to Lana...

The day of the trial arrived quickly. Lana sat in the defendant's chair, ready to protect her sisters when the time came. She looked up at the gallery and that's when she saw it.

(Y/n) was sitting with Ema.

From where she sat, Lana could tell that (Y/n)'s face was swollen in some places. Her eye was shoddily covered in makeup, but spots of black and blue could be seen. Her arms were covered in long sleeves, despite the warm temperature in the courtroom.

If (Y/n) was here, then it meant that Gant was around as well.

The trial began, but Lana refused to endanger her sisters again. If (Y/n) was hurt again, it was because Lana opened her mouth and said something. But she knew that Edgeworth was prepared.

He told her about the bloody rag and the analysis results. The blood was a mix of her sister's and Gant's. In the photos, specks of blood decorated doorframes and furniture.

During the trial, she noticed something. Around (Y/n)'s neck was a leather band. Then Lana realized what it really was.

A collar.

She was furious.

That monster had made her sister into a pet, an object. Something he thought was undeserving of human qualities. Something he owned, possessed, and used as he pleased.

Like she was nothing more than dirt under his shoe.

Less than nothing.

The trial was long and hard, but they had managed to put the monster away where he belonged. In the court lobby, (Y/n) rushed into Lana's arms.

To You...

I collapsed into my sister's arms, "I'm so sorry, Lana! I was stupid to stay with him." She hugged me, "You have nothing to apologize for. If anyone's apologizing, it should be me." She pulled away, putting her hands on my shoulders, "I should've done more for you. I should've been there for you. But, I let him hurt you and I'm sorry that I did. Can you forgive me?"

I smiled, "Of course, Lana." She smiled back, "Thank you for forgiving me. But have you forgave yourself?" I bit my lip,"It may take some time, but eventually I will."

I felt a nudge on my shoulder. I turned to see Miles. He spoke, "I'm glad to see you're alright." I looked at him, "Thanks to you Miles. You saved me." He blushed slightly, "I understand that you might not accept, but, w-would you like to go out to dinner sometime?"

I blushed, "I would love too."

We exchanged numbers and Lana tugged me out of the courthouse with Ema behind us. I was back with my family and I knew that even if the road to recovery was long and hard, I'd still have my sisters to help me walk on the road less travelled.
