I trotted into the pack's campfire area and dropped my catch from the hunt. My tail wagged at the memory. I took down a rather large buck. I looked over to the large grass field to see Apollo and Trucy playing in their wolf forms. I slipped into my small house and shifted back. I headed into my room and got dressed. As I turned to leave, I saw something on my dresser.

It was a beautiful diamond necklace. I put it on, thinking it was a gift from one of the alphas for bringing in the biggest hunt. I had hoped Apollo wouldn't question it. Apollo and I weren't mates, but just dating. I really loved him though. I stepped outside, spotting the alphas coming in from patrolling. They were still in their wolf forms. They ate parts of the buck. I sat and waited. Once they got finished, they headed into the pack house. I watched Apollo and Trucy eat. After they got done, they disappeared into their shared house.
They came out a few minutes later, no longer in their wolf forms. Apollo sat next to me, "Hey, (Y/n)." I smiled at him, "Hey Apollo." He spotted the necklace, "Who gave you that?" I shrugged, "I thought it was a gift from the alphas for bringing in the biggest hunt." His nose wrinkled, "It has Alpha Edgeworth's scent all over it." He stood, "Come on, I want to show you something." I followed him to a hill in the grassy field. At the top, he turned to me, "(Y/n)...I-I've been thinking about this for a while, but..."
He paused, "...Will you be my m-mate?" I smiled, "I thought you'd never ask Apollo." After that, we headed back. Once there, we were approached by Gumshoe, "Alpha Edgeworth wants to see you (Y/n)." I nodded and turned towards Apollo, "I'll see you tonight." Then, I headed into the pack house. A few minutes later, I was in the study. I spoke.
"You wished to see me, alpha?" Edgeworth stood up from his desk, "Drop the formalities (Y/n). It's just me." Miles and I always hunted and patrolled together, forming a friendship. He continued, "I have something to confess." A bad feeling swelled in my chest. He looked at me, "(Y/n), I am in love with you. I want you to be my mate." I backed up towards the door, "I-I'm sorry. I have to go..." I rushed out of the pack house after that. I bumped into Trucy.
She looked at me, "Are you alright?" I dragged her to a private spot, "Don't Tell Apollo, but Alpha Edgeworth confessed to me. He wants me to be his mate." What I didn't notice was Athena spying from the next house.
A few hours later, in the evening, dinner started. Parts of the hunt were cooked as everyone waited. Apollo, being a beta, was assigned to watch the cooks. I myself, was an alpha female. Athena had been avoiding me with a guilty look on her face. Apollo was also kind of distant too. I turned my gaze to see Miles behind me. He spoke to me, "I see you got my gift." I paused, "...You gave me this? Oh..."
Suddenly, Apollo was on my other side, "Dinner is almost ready." I heard Athena behind him, talking to Trucy, "I know. I told him about the mate part, but I didn't tell him that Alpha Edgeworth said he loved her." Apollo looked at me, "What is she talking about?" I shook my head, "I ended that relationship." Apollo growled.
"Relationship?!" I shook my head, "Our working relationship! I no longer go on hunts or patrols with him." Miles looked at me, "I can give you anything. A world of possibilities, and you choose him." He looked at Apollo, "She has so much potential, but you're a road block." I spoke up, "I have told you over and over, but you only choose to hear what you want! Apollo is my mate. I love him!"
Miles scoffed, "Fine. I'll be leaving then." He turned and walked away, but Apollo followed a few seconds later. I followed, Athena, Trucy, and Alpha Wright behind me. I heard Edgeworth, "You don't deserve her." Trucy and Athena held me back as Apollo and Miles shifted. Apollo head butted him, knocking him to the ground. Miles barked and growled at him, but Apollo didn't back down.
He bit and scratched at him, snarling. He drew blood, staining silver fur red. Apollo fought like an alpha. Alpha Wright shifted and separated them. I shifted and ran over to Apollo, licking at his wounds. He didn't have many, just a scratch or two.
We headed to my house and shifted back. We got redressed and I bandaged his wounds. I sighed, "Did you have to fight him?" He nodded, "I wasn't going to let him have you! I hated seeing that necklace on you." I brought a hand up to my neck, only to find it gone. It must've broke when I shifted.
I smiled, "I said I'd be your mate didn't I? No material object could change that. I mean it."
