A/N: Takes place right before Aura visits Simon in the detention center.

Your Pov:

I quickly walked into the detention center, showing my card to the guard as I walked past. I took my seat in the visitation room, waiting for a certain someone to arrive. The room was cold and lonely.

'I have the confront it. I have to confront him...'

A few minutes later, the door opened and Simon entered. He sat and looked at me, not saying a word. I sighed. "Simon..." He spoke. "(Y/n), it's time for this charade to end. I don't have much time-" I shook my head. "No! Don't say that. For as long as I can, I will fight." He frowned. "It's been long enough-"

I cut him off. "I know. It...It's been a long time since I've seen my face in your eyes. I just want my brother back" Simon looked away from me. "(Y/n), I left you, Aura, and even Athena alone. All alone in that space center. In a house, not a home." I closed my eyes, willing away the tears. "I watched that case grow as your hair filled with grey from the ashes that fell..."

He frowned, his eyes downcast. "There's nothing that can be done. That case... everything...has burned. It's over." I looked at him, a tear rolling down my cheek. "I've watched everything burn too! And all I've learned is that the same smoke fills the lungs like a disease until you no longer have the will to fight!"

His shackles rattled as he clenched his fists. "Enough, (Y/n). Go home." I swallowed the lump in my throat. "You are so willing to die and it's effectively killed the fight in you. You can't save everyone Simon, but you can save yourself. Remember that."

Without another word, I stood and left the visitation room. I tried my best to get through to him, but I failed. Now, I could only leave it up to Aura, but even then, the situation wasn't good. Those two fought like cats and dogs over anything.

...

Once back at the space center, I curled up in one of the sleep pods in the resting room. Before the HAT launches, before everything, I would come here to clear my mind and sleep my stress away. And Simon would always be the first to find me.

He'd cover me with my favorite blanket from the nearby closet and make sure the AC was the way I preferred it before kissing my forehead and leaving me to rest.

Aura always complained to Metis that Simon babied me too much, but Metis would only laugh and then she'd smile.

"He's her big brother. It's his instinct to take care of her."

That's what she'd say.

...

But as I laid there, everything hit me all at once. Tomorrow, Simon wouldn't be around anymore. Athena would never return to the space center. Aura would fall apart. And I...

I would lose my entire world.

The blanket covering my body was itchy and thin, unlike the warm quilt hiding in the closet under years of garbage. And the AC was just a little too cold for my liking.

And this time...

Simon wasn't here to fix any of it.
