The Feeling (Miles Edgeworth x Reader)
A/N: Wolf Shifter AU! But you can choose your mate.
Your Pov:
I ran through no man's land in my wolf form, being careful with my stomach. I needed to get away and hopefully, find a pack to take me in. A few yards ahead, I noticed the dirt turn into a tree line. I was coming up to pack territory. I passed over the line, knowing I'd be confronted soon. I stopped by a small den. Trees had fallen over it, hiding it from sight. I trotted over and sniffed the den. It was completely empty.
I went inside and laid down. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
Time Skip...3 hours later...
I awoke to the sound of leaves crunching. I tensed, pushing myself against the den wall. By the sound of the steps, I could tell that there were multiple wolves in the area. I stayed silent. I watched the den entrance, freezing as a flash of dark silver passed by. Soon, it fell silent again. I stood and stepped out of the den. Almost immediately, I was surrounded by the silver wolf and a black, spiky furred wolf.
I flinched back. I yelped as they connected me to their mind link. Through the mind link, I heard the silver wolf, "Who are you and why are you here? You smell of rogues." I used the mind link, "I'm (Y/n)...I ran away. I was used in a pup mill run by rogues."
(Pup mill: shifter version of puppy mill that produces shifter babies through forced conditions.)
After that, I was lead to the pack house. I was given fresh clothes and a room. I went into the room and shifted back, pulling the clothes on. My bump extended the shirt slightly. I left the room and headed downstairs where a silver haired man, the silver wolf presumably, stood. I spoke, "Thank you. No one has ever been this kind to me." He nodded, "You may stay here as a part of the pack, or you may go on your way."
I smiled, "I'll stay. Travel isn't a good thing for me right now." He waved a woman into the room, "This is Ema Skye, pack doctor. She will help you along with your pups." I nodded, "Alright. I'm not very far along. Only a month I believe." Ema nodded, "I'll need to run an ultrasound soon to make sure everything's fine." She continued, "I have nothing going on now." I spoke, "Let's go then."
She led me to a small medical wing. I laid on a bed as she put on gloves and grabbed a bottle. She looked at me, "This is going to be kind of cold." She rubbed a gel onto my stomach and started the ultrasound. After a while of looking, she spoke, "Everything looks normal and your pup's heartbeat is strong." I sighed in relief, "That's good to hear." She wiped the gel off and led me to a bedroom.
"This is your room. If you need anything, my room is downstairs and Mr. Edgeworth's room is right next to yours." I nodded, "Thank you." The next few weeks were calm and peaceful. I got closer to Miles. I found that he was the alpha of the pack with Phoenix being his beta. I felt a strong connection to him but I wasn't sure if he felt the same. My pup wasn't due for some time, but I didn't want to go through this alone.
Miles and I walked through the trees, enjoying each other's company. My bump was prominent under my shirt. Miles looked at me, "I don't want to bring up any unwanted memories, but do you know who your pup's father is?" I looked down, "At the mill, each female had 1 assigned male. And they didn't care if you were willing or not. This is my first pup. The father was a little older than me."
I continued, "He was a celebrity in certain circles. I don't remember his name. But at first glance, he was boyishly charming and unfortunately, candy coated misery. I escaped when he told me he was going to kill my pup." Miles rose a brow, "A rogue I assume?" I nodded, "A rogue and a killer. He wanted my pup gone because his mate was going to leave him if he fathered another's pup.".
Miles spoke, "As long as you're here, no harm will come to you or your pup. But, I do wish to ask you something." I looked at him, "Yes?" He hesitated, "...This may be forward of me, but I want you to be my mate." I froze, unsure of what to say. When he turned to walk away, I snapped out of my thoughts and grabbed his hand, "Yes. Yes, I will." He turned to me, emotions flickering through his eyes.
I smiled, "I feel the same way towards you." He gripped my hand, "Then it's time for the pack to meet it's new Luna." We headed back to the pack house, where Miles called a meeting. Everyone murmured amongst each other as they filed into the pack house. Miles walked to the balcony overlooking the first floor. He spoke, "I have brought you all here for the introduction of your Luna." Everyone clapped. Miles looked at me.
I stepped into everyone's sight. They cheered more. Miles continued, "She is to be treated with respect and kindness. I would like the females to help Ms. Skye with your Luna's pup. And finally, I want border guard to be on high alert for rogues. That is all." After that, everyone except the women left. Miles looked at me, "They should be able to help you with the little one before they're born."
Once on the main floor, the women sat me down and fawned over my baby bump. The youngest girls were two 17 year olds and a 9 year old. They seemed to be very interested. After a while, one of the border patrols ran into the pack house and up to Miles' office. We all went silent. Then from the office we heard the patrol speak, "Rogues are approaching quickly! Everyone is trying to fend them off."
Miles and the patrol rushed downstairs. Miles looked at me, "Stay here." I nodded silently. Then, he was gone. Over a few minutes, the women dispersed to other rooms to keep watch. I was alone. Suddenly, the door opened and a sickeningly familiar face entered my line of sight. I tensed. He spoke, "There you are. And I see you didn't take my advice to get rid of the little mutt." I frowned, "Get out of here." He scoffed, "I hate that bastard mutt, so no. Not until it's gone."
I growled and shoved him into a table, "Shut up!" He looked at me, anger in his eyes, "Now you've really done it." He lunged towards me, but before he could grab me, Miles was in front of me. Miles shoved him back and a fight broke out. They shifted to their wolf forms. Light solid silver fur collided with medium brunette and scarred fur. The fight was getting more and more intense. I knew what I had to do. I grabbed a large shard of broken glass off the ground.
Blood covered the bottom half of it. I put some of it on my hand and smeared it on my shirt over my stomach. I picked up a smaller piece and held it to my stomach like I had just stabbed myself with it. I let out a yelp and 'collapsed' to the ground. The fight stopped. Miles shifted back and rushed to my side as my pup's bastard of a father shifted back and smirked and ran out of the pack house. After I was sure he was gone, I sat up and put the glass down.
I smirked, "A little acting never hurt anyone." Miles' sighed in relief, "I'm relieved that you're not hurt. But, you should rest." Everyone else left and Miles led me to my room. I got into the bed. I grabbed Miles' hand, "Stay with me?" He nodded and got into the bed with me. He wrapped his arms around me, his hands resting on my stomach, "I love you (Y/n) (L/n)."
I smiled, "And I love you, Miles Edgeworth."
With that I closed my eyes and fell asleep...
