Stupid Mistakes (Jacques Portsman x Prosecutor! Reader)

A/N: This takes place during the first case in Miles Edgeworth Investigations. Jacques hasn't been accused yet, but the reader knows what he did and decides to speak with him in her office.

Your Pov:

I stood, looking over the crime scene. Jacques kneeled in front of Mr. Faith's body as another officer recorded the encounter. I rolled my eyes as I thought to myself, 'Sick bastard.' I coughed, "Jacques, a word? Now." He stood and approached me, "I'm trying to say goodbye to my dear partner. What is it?" I sighed, "We need to talk. Privately. Follow me." I lead him to my office and shut the door behind me. I turned to him, frowning.

"I found you when your heart was broke. I filled your cup until it overflowed. I took it so far to keep you close. I was afraid to leave you on your own. And look at you now." He crossed his arms, "Yeah, you helped me, but I would've made it without you." I scoffed and shook my head.

"I said I'd catch you if you fall and if they laughed, then fuck them all. And then I got you off your knees. Put you right back on your feet just so you could take advantage of me!" Jacques was a womanizer. Every woman fell for his physique and his pretty boy face. His personality though, sucked. He get whatever he needed from them before dumping them.

I was one of them

When we met, I had just become the highest ranking prosecutor in the office. I had the power to choose who I wanted in the office and when. Jacques charmed me into letting him work in the offices where higher ups like Miles Edgeworth would work. I was blinded by what I thought was love. I snapped out of it when I found out he was using me as a way of forging evidence.

He chuckled, "Taking advantage? Isn't that a little harsh?" I glared at him, "Tell me, how's it feel sitting up there?
Feeling so high, but too far away to hold me. You know I'm the one who put you up there. Name in the sky, does it ever get lonely? Thinking you could live without me? Baby, I'm the one who put you up there. I don't know why." He smirked, "You did get me where I needed to go, but do you really think I needed your help?"

I clenched my fists, "I gave love about a hundred tries just running from the demons in your mind, Then I took yours and made them mine! I didn't notice because my love was blind!" He walked up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist, "You took the blame for every bad thing I've done in this profession. Too bad I wouldn't do the same for you." He pulled away from me, "Now, I have to get going. I can't miss a day of training."

A few hours later...

I smirked as I watched two police officers lead Jacques out in handcuffs. I stopped them and looked at Jacques, "You don't have to say just what you did. I already know. I had to go and find out from them." I smiled.

"So tell me, how's it feel?"
