Opinionated (Manfred Von Karma x Insecure! Reader)

A/N: The reader and Von Karma have been together for 7 months. The reader is considerably younger (over 18 though!) than Von Karma. The reader works in the same office as Von Karma.

Your Pov:

I opened the front door and stepped into the home I shared with my boyfriend, Manfred Von Karma. The house was silent, indicating he wasn't home yet. I headed to our room and changed into some shorts and a tank top. I paused and looked in the mirror. I bit my lip. I sighed.

The older women I worked with liked to talk about me and my relationship.

**Flashback**

I sat at my desk, working on the tall stack of paperwork. My hands ached and my eyes were tired. Just then, I heard two of my co-workers, Sharon and Carol, talking. Sharon spoke, "I know, but, she's too young for a man like him. He needs a woman who can actually take care of him." Carol scoffed, "She probably doesn't even know how to cook or clean properly. I mean, her lunch says enough."

I tried to ignore them, but they kept talking. Carol laughed, "She doesn't have the experience that older women like us have. He probably just feels bad for the poor thing." Sharon coughed, "I couldn't agree more, but we should get back to work before she hears us." I sighed and rolled my eyes.

They turned and walked away. I finished up the rest of my work and clocked out before going home.

**Flashback end**

I grabbed my phone and headed to the kitchen, deciding to clean and make an attempt to cook. I put on some music and started cleaning, singing as I did so.

"Will you count me in? I've been awake for a while now. You've got me feelin' like a child now. 'Cause every time I see your bubbly face, I get the tingles in a silly place..."

I washed the dishes in the sink, making sure to leave no spots behind. After every dish was clean, I wiped the sink clean. Then, I started wiping off the counters.

"It starts in my toes, and I crinkle my nose! Where ever it goes I always know that you make me smile, please, stay for a while now. Just take your time wherever you go..."

I smiled to myself as my hand reached up to grip my locket. I received it as a gift from Von Karma. On the inside, the left side said 'I'd rather die tomorrow...' while the right side said 'Than live a hundred years without knowing you...'. I loved it.

"The rain is fallin' on my window pane
but we are hidin' in a safer place. Under covers stayin' dry and warm! You give me feelings that I adore! It starts in my toes, make me crinkle my nose. Wherever it goes I always know that you make me smile, please, stay for a while now. Just take your time wherever you go..."

I finished the counters and placed the rag in the sink. I hummed as I waited for the song's next line.

"But what am I gonna say? When you make me feel this way? I just-!"

I froze when I turned around. Manfred stood there, watching me. I bit my lip, "Oh, you're home early. Welcome home, dear." He looked at me, "What's this? You rarely clean or sing. But, I could get used to it, my dear." I blushed, "I was just following some advice." He raised an eyebrow.

"From who?"

That's when I realized that I just dug my own grave.

I giggled nervously, "Oh, just an article I read." He sighed, "You seem to forget I'm a prosecutor. Now, from who?" My gaze shifted around as I spoke, "S-Some women from work." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, "I don't see why you care for their opinions of you." I looked away, "I-It reflects what you might think of me." He paused before speaking, "What I think of you shouldn't matter to them. They don't see you through my eyes. Just what did they tell you?"

I looked up at him, "They talk about how I'm too young for you and how you're only with me out of pity. They tease me about not having the experience that older women have. So, I decided to change." His hand trailed up to the locket around my neck, "Would I have given you this, out of pity?" He gestured around, "Let you live in my home? Sleep in my bed? No." I went to speak but he cut me off before continuing.

"You don't have the experience they do because they were raised the old way. They learned that the woman serves the man. She cooks, cleans, and takes care of the kids while he works. You were raised to be independent. To make your own life. Your own money. I admire that you don't need me to do everything for you. And you take care of me, just as I do for you."

I nodded, "I guess I just felt like I could be doing more." His thumb brushed over my cheek, "You do more than enough, my dear. Now, next time they say anything to you or about you, I want you to tell me. I will have them dealt with accordingly." I smiled softly, "I will. I know you have work to do, so go finish up while I start dinner." He picked up his files and turned, kissing me on the forehead.

"Thank you, dear. For everything."
