You're A Queen And You Have To Uphold Your Duties And Have An Heir (Simon and Nahyuta)

Simon:

I hurried through the palace, ready to break down at any second. I went into my room and grabbed my phone, calling my boyfriend, "Simon. I need you to come see me. I'll let the guards know you're coming." I quickly hung up, not giving him time to reply. I sat on my bed, willing myself to not cry.

30 minutes later, my bedroom door opened, revealing Simon. He came in and shut the door, "Why are you upset, love?" I looked up at him, "Simon, I love you so, so much. I just don't want you to leave me." He kneeled in front of me and gripped my hands, "Tell me (Y/n)." I sighed, "M-My advisors told me that I need to have an heir to the throne. They arranged a...marriage for me."

He was silent, "...What about us? Am I suddenly irrelevant to you?" I looked away, a tear running down my face, "...Darling please, you know I‘m always a queen first and person second. If this is what's best for the kingdom...so be it." He stood up, "Then I believe this is over." I quickly gripped his hand, "Simon, you know I'd choose you in a heartbeat, but I have a duty to my people. Like you have a duty to the courts."

He shook his head, "Your duties and mine are nothing alike. I refuse to let others dictate my life. Maybe it's best we go our separate ways. Goodbye (Y/n)." Then, he was gone.

I collapsed onto my bed. I sobbed for hours until I couldn't cry anymore. I ignored all the servants who tried to get me to come out. For days, I refused to eat, sleep, or stop crying. I got voicemails from Mr. Edgeworth about Simon's wellbeing. Simon was just as bad off as I was. He was just constantly angry and frustrated. He couldn't concentrate in court. Even Taka refused to go near him.

But I still had to go forward in my duties as queen.

A few weeks later, I stood in the throne room as the seamstresses altered my wedding dress.

I put on a happy face, but I felt like I was dying on the floor. In the reflection of the mirror, I saw Simon by the door. As soon as I saw him, he turned and left, not saying a word.

I loved him with all my heart but...

I had to make a sacrifice.

Nahyuta:

(The reader is the adopted daughter of Ga'ran. This takes place after Ga'ran is arrested. Reader is not related to the royal family by blood but has immense spiritual power.)

Khura'in was slowly going back to normal after Ga'ran's fall. In lieu of Rayfa, I ascended to the throne immediately. Unlike my mother, I ruled justly and peacefully. However, the council began speaking of heirs and marriages avidly. I went to the courtyard to avoid the topic. Nahyuta was already there, meditating. I sat on the grass next to him. When he finished meditating, I spoke, "We need to talk." He looked at me, "What is it?"

I swallowed the lump in my throat, "The council wants me to produce an heir as soon as possible..." He held my hand, "Why do you worry my love? I may not be a king, but I am still your cohort." I looked down, "That's why I worry. The council has arranged for a marriage between myself and the imperial king Julius Ambrose from the kingdom of-" Nahyuta cut me off.

"Daid'in. Or so I've heard. But you are the queen of Khura'in. Your council may guide you, but they cannot force you." I sighed, "The council will dethrone me if I refuse. It is a matter of duty." He looked at me, "What duty do you choose? The duty to your people? Or the duty to your heart?" I looked at him, tears pricking my eyes.

"Yuta, please, you know I'm always a queen first and person second. If this is best for Khura'in..so be it."

He took a box out of his pocket, "I wanted to keep this for a better time, but my time with you is running low."

He opened the box.

A beautiful ring sat inside

A beautiful ring sat inside.

He spoke, "I was going to ask you to marry me, but the Holy Mother has other plans for you. Still, will you accept my ring?" I stood up, my legs trembling, "I-I'm sorry, Yuta. I can't. I must do...what's right for the people."

Then, I ran out of the courtyard. I felt horrible for dashing his hopes. If the situation was different, I wouldn't have told him no. But my fate was sealed and decided.

The next few days were very hectic. I stood in the audience chamber with the seamstresses and Queen Amara. Queen Amara seemed to not be mad at me, which was a relief. I looked in the mirror at myself.

Queen Amara ushered the seamstresses out and spoke, "I know you mean not to hurt my son, but he loves you with his entire being

Queen Amara ushered the seamstresses out and spoke, "I know you mean not to hurt my son, but he loves you with his entire being. You are a queen and you have a duty to your people and sometimes, that means sacrifice."

I noticed Nahyuta disappear from the doorway through the mirror. I knew that I hurt him badly, but what could I possibly do?

Running away wasn't an option...

Or was it?
