Your Pov:

I sat against the wall in the alley. Snow fell to the ground, covering it like a white sheet. I shivered as a gust of wind blew past me. I was only wearing the shorts and tank top my master gave me. My master left me here, saying he would come back for me later. I sneezed and my ears twitched as I did. I sniffled.

Just then, I heard footsteps crunching in the snow. I looked up. Another human came into view. His hair was a dark brown and wore red dress pants with a heavy coat. I stayed quiet, trying not to make any noise. Another breeze blew past and I sneezed. His eyes scanned the alley until they landed on me. He spoke softly, "H-Hello? Are you alright?" I pressed myself closer to the wall, bringing my knees to my chest. He stepped towards me. I watched as he stopped three feet in front of me and kneeled.

"You're a neko. What are you doing out in this weather?" I swallowed, "M-Master told me to stay here u-until he came back for me." He paused for a moment before speaking, "Before I found you, I spoke to your master. He doesn't want you anymore. I'm sorry." I looked down at my feet, "I...I guess I'll go find a cardboard box to sleep in." He spoke quickly, "No! I mean, I could be your new master." I bit my lip and nodded, "Thank you, master."

My legs shook as I stood. He smiled, "Let's get you to your new home." I bit my lip, "I'll follow you, master." Suddenly, I was scooped up into his arms. I tensed, "Why are you carrying me, master? Old master made me walk everywhere." He shook his head, "You are not in a state to walk right now." After a bit of walking, we arrived at a house. He opened the door and brought me inside.

It was warm. I turned, looking towards the floor as I spoke, "Thank you for bringing me here, master." He took off his coat, hanging it on the rack, "Welcome to your new home. I hope you like it here." I nodded, "At least there are a lot of corners to sleep in." He tilted his head, "Huh?" I sighed, "Old master told me I didn't deserve a bed and made me sleep in a corner each night." He looked at me, "You will have a proper bed. Now, let me show you around."

I kept my gaze to the ground, "I'll follow you, master." He led me to each room, stopping once we reached a bedroom, "This is your room." He opened the door to reveal a simple grey painted room with a nightstand, dresser, and desk. A bed was pushed against the left wall of the room. My eyes widened, "I-I get a bed?" He nodded, "Please, get comfortable." I walked over to the bed and placed my hands on the blanket. It was soft.

I laid down in the middle of the bed and rubbed my head against in, purring. I sat up quickly, realizing what I was doing, "I-I'm sorry, master. Is there anything I can do to serve you?" He examined me, "First of all, can you tell me where you got those cuts and bruises from?" I closed my eyes as unwanted memories coursed through my mind, "Old master gave them to me to punish me. He said I deserved it for being a bad neko."

He sighed, "I didn't mean to bring up any bad memories. Anyways, it's almost dinner time. Let's go eat." He led me back to the kitchen. I spoke, "I can cook master." He pointed to a chair in the kitchen, "No. I want you to sit down and rest." I went to the chair and sat down. Eventually, he placed a plate down in front of me. I looked up at him in shock, "I-I get to eat all this?" He nodded.

I immediately dug in. Tears of happiness trailed down my face as my stomach became full. I choked out, "T-Thank you. I would've been happy with a piece of bread, since that's what old master gave me, but, thank you." After I finished, he took the plate and washed it. He then sat me down on the sofa, "Now, can you tell me about your old master?" I nodded, "Old master was very cruel. He punished me a lot. And sometimes he...he did things to me. Awful things."

I continued, "I thought all humans were like that. Until I met you, master. You took me in, fed me, and gave me a bed to sleep in. For that, I will be eternally grateful." He hugged me, "I'm sorry about everything that he did to you, but I will make sure you feel safe here. And, please, don't call me master." I tilted my head, "What do I call you then?" He smiled, "Call me Apollo." I nodded, "Ok. Apollo."

I yawned, "C-can we go to bed, Apollo? I'm sleepy." He stood, helping me up, "Of course." He led me to my room and helped me into bed, "Goodnight. If you need me, I'm in the room across from you." With that, he left the room.

I snuggled into the blankets and fell asleep, happy thoughts in my mind.
