Your Pov:

I sat in the manor's library with Miles, studying some law text book. I sighed and pushed the textbook away, not wanting to read anymore. Miles looked up from his book, "What's the matter with you?" I looked at him, "I don't know. I'm just so tired of this. I'm living in a world full of people so unwilling to see the color bars beyond the endless static. They're too content with living life like a re-run of an old black and white sitcom and everywhere I go, people say, 'Wow, you are definitely unique.' But..."

I rolled my eyes, "I knew what they were really trying to say. 'Hey dreamer, why do you have to dream so big? How are you going fit inside this box we're trying hard to fit you in? Hey dreamer, why do you have to dream so bright? For you to dream in technicolor's not okay. And it isn't right, it's black and white."

Miles chuckled, "You're not wrong there. Well you can move forward, but don't step out of line. Try to be content, this world is tintless. But it's far from colorblind. And I was so sure someday I would find the crack between the black and white. A fact that might ignite a change of mind." I bit my lip, "Everyone is judgemental."

He nodded, "But they said who do you think you are? What do you think you'll be? Why do you run around town thinking all these crazy things?
That isn't true, so just know your place. It just wasn't meant to be. Try and you'll get a taste of good reality." Before I could answer, the library door opened and my father came in.

He approached the table, "You should be studying (Y/n). Not slacking." He continued, "You should know better. No dreams allowed, no standing out. Learn to stay in the crowd where it's black and white. Head in the clouds?" He scoffed, "Just come back down. Put your feet on the ground, because it's black and white." I looked down, "Yes, Papa. I understand." After that, he turned and left. After a while, Franziska came in with new books.

"After you finish those books, you must read these." I nodded, "I know, I know. But, I'm tired of this. This wasn't my dream Franziska. This was papa's dream. I want to be myself." Franziska placed her hand on my shoulder, "Well, you can move mountains, but don't you foolishly try to climb. You can write the songs, but just know the words can never rhyme." I shrugged her off.

"I was so sure, if I gave him a little time, maybe he'd ignore it and press fast forward, but he simply pressed rewind."

She sighed, frowning, "For you to dream in technicolor's not okay and it isn't right. It's black and white. It's foolish." I stood up, pushing my chair back. The two of them looked at me. I spoke, "You're all the same. I refuse to let my life be decided by someone else. I'm done with prosecuting. I'm done with studying. And if Papa doesn't approve, I don't care."

With that, I walked out of the room.
