I sat down in the chair in the visitation room, waiting for Simon to enter. A few minutes later, he arrived and sat down. "Have you heard anything from Wright-dono?" I sighed. "Athena's been arrested and the investigation's ongoing. Simon, what do we do? Tomorrow... tomorrow is...!"

He cut me off. "I know. There isn't much time left for me, but I'll do what I can. As for you, I want you move on. Be happy." I shook my head. "No, Simon. I don't want another alpha. None of them can compare to you!" Simon looked at me. "You'll find one. This is why I put off marking you. I didn't want you to live with that pain." I blinked back some tears. "I-I understand." He slightly smiled.

"I love you."

I smiled back. "I love you too."

After a little while longer, the visit ended and I left. As I walked down the hall, I bumped into Detective Fulbright. He smiled at me. "Finished visiting Prosecutor Blackquill for the day?" I nodded. "Yes." As we stood there, something felt off. He looked at me, an unusual look on his face. "His execution is tomorrow. Have you found another alpha?" I sighed. "No. I probably won't for a while."

He smiled. "Well, I have a proposition for you, then." I rose a brow. "A proposition?" He continued. "I've been looking for an omega myself. And you're perfect." I bit my lip. "I'm sorry, but I'm not ready to rush into anything yet." He quietly pulled me out of the detention center and to the back of the building. He frowned. "What if I told you that I could stop Blackquill's execution? Stop it and save his life?" I looked at him. "You can save him?"

He nodded. "Yes, but you have to accept my proposition first." I hesitated for a moment, then, I nodded. "Fine. I accept, but please, save him." He grinned. "Good choice, my beautiful omega. I'll hold off on marking you for now, but it won't be too long before I do so." I looked down at the ground in silence. He chuckled quietly before walking away.

'I'm sorry Simon. Please, forgive me.'

Timeskip to Simon questioning Fulbright about the Phantom...

I watched from the gallery as Simon questioned Fulbright. Simon no longer wore his shackles.

He was declared innocent.

The atmosphere in the courtroom suddenly changed as Fulbright started to laugh. He turned to the gallery and gestured for me to come out. I stood, unable to look at Simon as he watched me. I stopped next to Fulbright as he spoke. "This sweet little omega sacrificed herself for your freedom, Blackquill. And now, she'll be mine." Simon shouted as Fulbright quickly moved towards my neck.

"No!"

A loud clang echoed through the courtroom. Fulbright pulled away, slightly growling. "A mark blocker?!" I lifted my head, revealing the metal collar locked around it. Simon started to chuckle. "Smart omega. Very clever." Fulbright, or the person pretending to be him, spoke. "That's no problem. I'll just have to remove it." Simon smirked.

"It won't come off. After all, I hold the only key to unlocking it."

Timeskip to after the trial...

I stood in the lobby as I waited for everyone to exit the courtroom. Taka perched on my shoulder, watching everyone pass. I jumped as a hand touched my shoulder. I turned to see Simon. I smiled. "Simon! I'm so glad you're alright!" He looked at me. "Don't worry about me. I thought I was going to lose you in there."

I touched the collar lightly. "I knew something was wrong, so I didn't want to risk it." He reached into his pocket and a jingling noise reached my ears. He pulled out the key to the collar. It was feather shaped. He gently put the key in the hole and unlocked the collar. I put it in my bag before looking back at him.

"Simon...You're free now. We can be together."

He sighed as he gently held my hands. "Are you sure that I am what you want? Once this happens, there is no going back." I nodded. "Yes. I want to be with you, Simon. I wouldn't want to be with anyone else." He smiled slightly. "If that is how you truly feel, then who am I to reject you?" He gently tilted my head to the side and slowly kissed my neck before stopping at the skin between my neck and shoulder.

His canines brushed over the skin for a few seconds before he bit down. His hand covered my mouth to keep me from being too loud, but I was silent. After a few seconds, he pulled away, cleaning the blood from the wound before looking at me.

"I believe it's your turn, love."

He sat at a nearby bench and I sat next to him. I moved the collar of his jacket and peppered the skin with kisses before biting down. He tensed slightly, but made no noise. I pulled away and cleaned the mark before fixing his collar. "There. It's done."

Before he could speak, I heard a voice come from behind me.

"You two marked each other?!"

We turned to see Athena and the rest of the lawyers. Athena grinned. "Congrats Simon! When's the wedding?!" I stood, Simon following after. I blushed.

"Athena!"
