Your Pov:

I watched from a distance as the rest of the pack celebrated and had a good time. We just had a plentiful hunt. I searched for my mate among the crowd but I couldn't find her. I had met my mate many months ago on a hunt. We lunged for the same deer and bumped into each other. She was an alpha from her own pack while I was an alpha in mine.

At first, everyone was shocked that two female alphas were paired as mates, but soon came to accept it. Her name was Franziska von Karma. Her father was the alpha of her pack until he died a few years ago. I took over my pack after the last alpha stepped down.

I walked into the party. Pairs of mates were dancing together while others stood around speaking and laughing with each other. Just as I was about to reach the other end of the party grounds, an arm wrapped around my waist. A drunken voice spoke in my ear, "Why are you in such a hurry, sweetheart?" I turned to see a member of Franziska's hunter group. I scoffed, "I don't think that's any of your business." He leaned close to me.

"How about I make it my business?" His hand lifted to brush a piece of my hair out of my face, but I gripped his wrist before he could do so. I spoke, my voice low, "Touch me again and I will cut your fingers off and feed them to you one by one." He let go of me, but did not move. Then, I heard a feminine voice behind me, "Making a move on your alpha's mate? How foolish, you stupid fool!" The guy paled and disappeared into the crowd of people. I sighed, dragging Franziska away from the party, "Did you really have to do that? I had it under control, Franziska." She frowned.

"You're my mate. It's my job to protect you. Even if it's for a foolish reason, I'd still protect you." I fumed, "I don't need to be protected, Franziska! I am an alpha just like you. I am not an omega that needs to depend on her alpha for help! I am not weak. That's what you need to realize." She looked at me, "I know that you are not weak, but-" I cut her off, "No. Just don't. I'm going to clear my head. I'll be back later." With that, I shifted and ran into the woods. I ran for a good two hours before I decided to come back.

By the time I got back, the celebration had ended and everyone was asleep. I headed into the pack house where I shared a room with Franziska. I walked up the stairs and into our room. Franziska sat on the bed in her nightwear, reading a book. I grabbed my night clothes and went into the bathroom to change. After that, I sat next to Franziska on the bed. I spoke, rubbing my arm, "I-I'm sorry about what I said earlier. I wasn't thinking straight." She sighed, putting the book down, "I'm sorry too. It was foolish of me to suppress your independence. You aren't weak. You're very strong."

She continued, "You like to be independent and I understand that. Just, don't be foolish, and lean on me sometimes, alright?" I nodded, "Ok. I love you, Franziska." She blushed slightly, "I love you too, you foolish fool." With that, we curled up together under the blanket, relishing in each other's body heat as we slept.
