The sirens grew louder and stopped ways away from me. I heard other storage units being opened and closed. Then I heard something else.

I heard tapping on the unit I was in.

Then, there was a familiar screech.

I called out, "I'm in here!" Footsteps stopped in front of the unit. The door slid up, revealing some officers and detectives. With them was Taka. His wing was bandaged, so he hopped around. One of the detectives radioed the others, "We've found her! Bring in a stretcher. Something's wrong with her leg." A few minutes later, I was put onto the stretcher and Taka perched on my stomach.

From there, I was taken to the hospital and wheeled into surgery.

I woke up in a hospital room hours later. Simon sat next to me with Taka perched on his shoulder. I spoke, "Could you get me some water?" He looked at me, "You're awake! Here." He handed me a water bottle. I took a few drinks before speaking, "What happened while I was out?" He huffed, "You were brought here with a broken hip and a fracture in your femur. They did surgery and your leg should heal within a few months."

I looked at Taka, "How is he?" Simon chuckled, "He's a fighter. He fractured a wing but started looking for you once he woke up. I heard he was the first to find you and he rode with you all the way to the hospital." I smiled, "He's a good birdie." I paused, "...And the man?" He sighed, "He's dead. The knife wound you gave him was fatal on the first stab. The forensics team found traces of your blood, his blood, and some other...bodily fluids."

I held his hand, "Before you ask Simon, no, he didn't do anything to me. He was just a sick pervert." He hmm'd, "Well, from now on, no keeping secrets like this. I want you to tell me if you get anything else, whether it be in the mail or on your phone." Then, the door to the room opened. Athena, Apollo, and Mr. Wright stepped in.

Mr. Wright and Apollo gave me some get well soon stuff. Athena spoke up, "You should've seen Simon, (Y/n)! He went crazy looking for you. And when Taka fractured his wing after you were kidnapped, he pretty much started cr-!" Simon glared at her, "That's enough. Now, don't you have a trial to get to?" With that, Athena dragged Mr. Wright and Apollo out the door. I smiled, "Thank you for saving me, Simon. If it wasn't for you and Taka, I'd be stuck with a body."

He squeezed my hand, "Don't thank me. I couldn't let you get hurt. I love you." I squeezed his hand back.

"I love you too."

A/N: I'm super busy writing chapters for Blurred Writings. I've got 4 chapters finished, but not published. In One Step At A Time, I have 10 chapters finished, but not published. In That's Just The Way Of The World, I have one finished, but not published. My plan is to write 10 chapters per book but not publish them until each of those three books has 10 finished, unpublished chapters.
