No One's Pov:

The girl laid in her bed, her body as heavy as a ton of lead. A boy kneeled on the side of the bed, gazing at her with sad eyes. No words were spoken, just silence. Then, the radio in the corner of the room, Clay's radio, turned on. The girl was Clay's sister. The boy had promised him that he would take care of her. Static filled the silence before a voice came on.

"She's only 17, her whole life's ahead of her. She hates school because the people there discredit her. Her boyfriend tries to show her that's not how it seems. But everyday she just gets lowered with her self-esteem."

To your Pov:

I stared at the radio, surprised. It stopped working the day after everything... happened. I turned my gaze to Apollo. He was already looking at me. I laid back on the pillow as he intertwined our hands. I took a deep breath, trying to relax.

"He let's her know that every night will have a brighter day. She even tried to overdose and take her life away. She's feeling hopeless there just sitting down beside her bed. Then he takes his hand and places it beside her head."

I swallowed the lump in my throat as memories of my attempt filled my mind. Apollo found me in the bathroom with a handful of sleeping pills. I remember being curled up against the bathtub. Shaking as Apollo took the pills and flushed them. Crying as I realized what I was about to do. I snapped out of my thoughts when Apollo squeezed my hand.

"He tries to hold her but with every touch she still resists. And then he sees the scars that bury deep within her wrists. She's feeling numb, he tries to beg and plead and ask her, "Why?" She says this way she has control of the pain she feels inside."

The insides of my wrists were covered in thin white lines. Some jagged and some straight across. Apollo gently traced a finger over the scars, watching my face for any discomfort. He looked down at my wrists, not saying a word. He gazed at the radio, mouthing the words as he held my hand. I just stared at him silently.

"He's asking her, "How long it's going since you've felt this?" Way because you got me here, just feeling so damn helpless." She says, "It's been a while. I guess I needed better luck." And then he screams at her and tells her, "Baby, never cut!""

Apollo got up from the floor and into the bed. He leaned me against his chest, resting my head on his heart. He slowly rocked me back and forth, humming quietly to the rhythm. He kissed my temple and quietly sang the next lyrics into my ear.

"Nobody seems to get you, you feel you're on your own. But listen, pretty lady, you don't have to be alone. So, baby, don't cut, baby, don't cut. You can do anything, just promise baby you won't cut."

My eyes stung slightly from the tears I held back. I blinked them away, snuggling closer to his chest. Apollo continued to hold me, his comforting grip never loosening. He whispered the next lyrics, making my eyes close.

"I know your heart is hurting, you think the road has end. You may just feel that blade you're holding is your only friend. But baby don't cut, baby don't cut. You can do anything, just promise baby you won't cut."

One tear fell from my eye. I wiped it away and sighed. I relaxed back into Apollo, ignoring the itching from my wrists. He started running his fingers through my hair to calm me down.

"The next day at school she's feeling better than the day before. Even cracked a couple smiles as she walked the corridor. But all that seemed to end: she dropped her books when she walked into class. And every student in the room just seemed to point and laugh. She couldn't take it anymore, she sent her boy a text. She said, "I love you with my body, heart and soul to death." He thought nothing, typed "I love you", then he sent it. By "death" he didn't know that she had literally just meant it."

I could feel Apollo tense. I knew what he was thinking about. The texts still sat undeleted in our phones. The texts that read 'I have to tell you one more time: I love you.' and 'I love you too.' The way he didn't realize the hidden meaning behind the words. But I never blamed him. It was never his fault. I hugged his arm, "It's alright, Apollo. I'm ok now." He held me tight.

"She ducked the next class, ran home into the bathroom. Thought to herself she wouldn't break her promise that soon. One cut... two cuts... three cuts... four. The blood just started dripping from the tub to the floor. Her boyfriend had a feeling in his stomach that he hated. He followed it right down to her house he never waited. The front door was open, he heard the water running.
He stormed into the bathroom and his heart just started gunning."

A memory flashed through my mind. My wrists were bloody and burning. Smaller cuts started at my elbow, but at the base of my wrists, I had cut into the veins. Blood spilled onto the tile. The door opened and Apollo rushed in, pressing towels to my injuries while calling for an ambulance. After that, I woke up in a hospital. I snapped out of my flashback by the song starting it's next verse.

"Nobody seems to get you, you feel you're on your own. But listen pretty lady you don't have to be alone. So baby don't cut, baby don't cut. You can do anything, just promise baby you won't cut. I know your heart is hurting, you think the road has end. You may just feel that blade you're holding is your only friend. But baby don't cut, baby don't cut. You can do anything, just promise baby you won't cut."

Apollo placed another kiss on my temple as he intertwined our fingers again. I squeezed his hand and he squeezed back. I closed my eyes, breathing deeply through my nose.

"He puts her arm around his shoulder, he's just tryna lean her back up. Yelling out her name as he lays her beside the bathtub. Feels his whole world just took a hit from a big avalanche. Screaming out so heavily, "Somebody call an ambulance!" Feeling mad angry like somebody's led her onto this. Her eyeballs are rolling, drifting out of consciousness. Thinking to himself why the hell did she just stop at will. The tears just keep on rolling as they head to the hospital."

I remember Apollo crying as the paramedics loaded me into the ambulance. His hand shook in mine as I faded in and out of consciousness. At the hospital, everything became a blur. Screaming, crying, then nothing.

"Paramedics rush her in, the doctor calls emergency. She's lost a lot of blood the place looks like a murder scene. An hour later, the doc walks over with a sour face. And says, "Excuse me for the words that I'm about to say. I'm sorry for your loss," The boy just starts collapsing. His own world, his own girl just took a crashing. Saying to himself that it's his fault and that he let it up. "Baby, I thought you made a promise you would never cut.""

The only thing that saved me that day was Apollo. He was the only one who could donate blood to me. I woke up in a hospital bed, Apollo next to me. He hugged me gently, crying into my shoulder. He kissed me like I was going to disappear, but I wasn't.

You can do anything, just promise baby you won't cut..."

After that, the radio turned back to static before turning off all together. Apollo looked at me, "I love you so, so much (Y/n)." I smiled, tears rolling down my cheeks, "I love you, Apollo. Without you, I wouldn't be here. Thank you for showing me there's more to life than just pain and suffering." I leaned up and kissed him. He kissed back. After a while, he got up from the bed and walked over to the radio, "I thought this was broken?" I nodded, "Me too."

He moved the radio forward, showing the plug not in the socket. I tilted my head, "Maybe there's batteries still on it?" Apollo got a screwdriver and opened the battery panel. There were no batteries inside. It was empty. My eyes widened, "H-How?" Apollo shook his head, "This was Clay's radio, right?" I nodded, "Yeah." He smiled, "He's still looking after you." I smiled.

"He never stopped."
