Why Now? (Sebastian x Edgeworth's! Daughter! Reader) (Omegaverse)

Requested!

A/N: Reader was adopted by Edgeworth and is 16 (Sebastian is 17). For this one, reader has had her heat before. Also, protective dad Edgeworth!

Your Pov:

I laid in my bed, curled in a ball as I held one of my dad's shirts to my chest. The heat in my abdomen had gotten stronger, making me whimper. Then, there was a knock on the door. I spoke, "C-Come in..." The door opened to reveal my father, "(Y/n), we-" I could tell he noticed my scent, but he had impeccable control as an alpha.

He continued, "It's early this time. Anyways, you have to come with me to the office. I'm not risking someone breaking in to get to you." I forced myself to sit up, "B-But..." He sighed, "I'll get your heat suppressants and I'll be with you at all times in the office." He left the room and I got dressed.

My closet floor was my nesting spot when my heat got further in. Since I didn't have a partner, father let me use some of his scented shirts.

I grabbed my bag and headed to the kitchen, trying my best to ignore the pressure in my abdomen. Once I got there, I spotted father setting out a dose of my suppressants. I quickly took them with some water and sighed in relief as the heavy feeling went away. I put the rest of the bottle in my purse and followed father out to the car. The drive to the office was mostly silent. We arrived 5 minutes later and headed to his private office.

As we walked, I felt eyes on me. Once we were inside his office, he ushered me inside. He spoke, "Now, I'm going to the meeting downstairs. Lock the door and don't open it until I call you." I nodded, "Yes, father." He left and I locked the door.

30 minutes passed with no phone call or knocking. I could feel my suppressants wear off. Before I could reach for my purse, there was a knock on the door, "Mr. Edgewater? It's Sebastian. You wanted to see me?" I froze at the voice. It sent shivers down my spine and I could feel the pressure hit me ten-fold.

Against my better judgement, I approached the door and opened it. Outside stood a boy, maybe a year older than me. He had light brown hair and wore a blue uniform of sorts with a red jacket over his shoulders. I spoke, "M-My father is in a meeting, Mr...?" I could tell he was taking in my scent as his nose twitched slightly.

He hesitated, "...S-Sebastian Debeste. And you...?" I blushed slightly, "(Y/n) Edgeworth." He came into the room, despite my brain disagreeing with my actions. I shut the door, locking it again. I walked over to my purse to look for my surpressants. Suddenly, I felt arms wrap around my waist and a nose brush my neck. I tensed up.

He spoke quietly, "I-I can't help it...you just smell so good..." His lips met my neck, making me shiver. We stood there in silence, him kissing my neck and taking in my scent while I was frozen in shock. I noticed that his scent had become stronger, as if he was trying to ward off others. It made me feel hazy, but it smelt so good at the same time. In my state, I hadn't even heard the door unlock.

A familiar voice broke me from my trance, "Remove yourself from my daughter. Now." I managed to find my suppressants and take them before turning to my father. He was glaring down at Sebastian with a look that could kill, "Have you no self-control?"

I knew he was concerned for my well-being. He knew how alphas treated omegas.

As an omega, you learn that...

Your body is not your own.

But that mindset was cleansed from my mind when my father introduced me to Aunt Franziska. She taught me how to defend myself and have confidence in who I was. The one thing I'll always remember is the piece of advice she gave me.

'Whenever you're feeling pressured by an alpha, tell yourself this: my body is not your temple.'

Father continued, "In her current state, she cannot give you consent! Her instincts overpower her thoughts and make it damn near impossible for her to tell you to stop." Sebastian spoke, "M-Mr. Edgeworth, I couldn't bring myself to hurt her...And Justine told me that if an omega's scent ever overwhelmed me, to throw myself against the nearest wall to snap out of it." Father growled, "Not every method is for sure. You could've hurt her." Sebastian glanced at me.

"N-No. I couldn't hurt my mate..."

The room went dead silent. The scents the two were giving off were making me a bit dizzy. But I knew that Sebastian was telling the truth. I had smelt many alpha's scents but they had never been as strong as his.

Father looked at me, "I-Is that true?" I bit my lip, "I've never smelt anything like his scent..." He sighed, "I see. For now, you two are staying apart until (Y/n)'s heat is over." He looked at Sebastian, "Since you're her mate, my scent will no longer help her. You'll have to give her something with your scent on it, so that she can re-scent her nesting area with it."

Sebastian nodded, "I understand." He took the red jacket off his shoulders and held it out to me, "Here. I hope this will do." I took it and hugged it to my chest, "I-It's fine. Thank you." Father huffed, "Now, the file is on my desk, Sebastian. (Y/n), let's go home." I nodded, "Yes, father." I looked at Sebastian as I headed towards the door, "Bye, Sebastian..." He nodded.

"B-Bye (Y/n)..."

Father and I drove home in silence. Once we got inside the house, I spoke, "Are you mad at me, father?" He shook his head, "No. I'm just worried. I know he is a good match for you, but when I saw him all over you, my instincts wanted me to remove the danger immediately. I've been fighting those instincts for the 6 years I've raised you, since the first time an alpha cat called you when you were 12. But now, that's Sebastian's duty."

I hugged him, "And I'm thankful for everything you've done for me. You've shown me that not all alphas are bad. You've shown me that my body is my own and that it's not for a selfish alpha's sick desires. You're my father and I wouldn't change that."

I continued, "Sebastian may be my mate, but he will never replace you. He'll teach me things I never knew, just like you did. Now, I need to lay down." He chuckled, "Alright. I'll come get you when dinner is ready."

I scampered off to my room and took out all of father's clothes I had. I aired out the room and my nesting area before putting Sebastian's jacket into my nest in the closet. I laid down and covered myself with it, smiling as I breathed in the scent. Then, the calming smell slowly lulled me to sleep and into pleasant dreams.

A/N: As you may have noticed, when I do Omegaverse one shots, I tend to be a bit softer. I've read one shots and stories where it's heavier because it's where omegas have no rights and are sold like animals or are treated poorly. I steer myself away from these books because of how rough it is.

The way I do Omegaverse is that your 'rank' is determined by your parents. For example, two alphas can have an alpha or beta child with the very rare chance of an omega child. An alpha and a beta can have an alpha or omega child with the rare chance of a beta child. Two betas can only have beta or omega children. Two omegas can only have omega children.

Anyways, omegas are not treated differently, but alphas still like to pester them. The alphas are not crazy aggressive about it though. It's more of our version of cat calling but extra. Heat will drive an alpha up the wall and can end up with the omega being put in a bad situation, but it's rare since there are heat suppressants.

Mates find each other through scents. You will recognize their scent immediately in a group of people. And their scent is one of a kind, so you'll know for sure. In my version, mates are for life. Also, marking doesn't always have to take place during or after mating. It can be before. And mating during heat doesn't always equal pregnant. Like, people don't just sleep together to try for pregnancy everytime.

That's just one thing in Omegaverse fics that bothers me a bit.

Sorry for my rambling...

I'd both hate and love to be live in an Omegaverse style world. I'd hate it because I know I'd be born an omega and I'd be pressured even more. On the other hand, I'd love it because hey! There's someone out there I'm bound to for life that's supposed to love me. But with my fictional crush list, I'd probably be like 'Can I be bound to (insert character here) instead?' but that's just me.

Thanks for reading this far!
