Mysterious (Simon Blackquill x Defense Attorney! Reader)
Your Pov:
I sat in my office, going over my case for tomorrow. The TV was on with the news playing. I perked up as my name came up. They were talking about one of my recent trials.
"In other news, Defense Attorney (Y/n) (L/n), better known as the Mysterious Geisha, has still kept her 7 year record after facing off against Prosecutor Klavier Gavin. She is best known for her use of psychology in the courtroom to get even the judge and gallery on her side. Her mysterious name comes from how she appears in court."
"She is always seen with a fan covering the bottom half of her face. Even at her debut trial, she covered her face. No one knows what that part of her face looks like. That might change tomorrow."
"(Y/n) Is said to have another trial tomorrow against the Twisted Samurai Simon Blackquill. In a statement given by the prosecutor himself, he stated 'Tomorrow, I will unmask this 'mysterious geisha' and expose her once and for all.'."
"Will the Twisted Samurai truly be able to unmask the Mysterious Geisha? Tune in tomorrow for the trial's exciting conclusion!"
I scoffed at the report. Many have made the same threat, but all have failed. I chose to cover my face to avoid dealing with the media. I knew the fan wasn't always foolproof, so I also wore a short face veil from the middle of my nose to my chin.
I went back to my case file, reviewing everything from front to back.
The Next Day...
I walked into the courthouse, my bag in one hand and my fan in the other. I was ready to win this case. I picked out an outfit that I hadn't wore yet.

I felt pretty confident.
The bailiff approached me, "Ms. (L/n), the trial's going to begin." I headed into the courtroom. As I stood at the bench, waiting for the judge, I examined the prosecutor. He had his back to me, casually leaning back on the bench. He wore a black and white color scheme and had long black hair pulled into a messy ponytail. The judge banged his gavel.
"Court is in session for the murder of Lyven Zumbwi." I spoke, fluttering my fan slightly, "The defense is ready, your honor." Prosecutor Blackquill looked over his shoulder, "Hmph." He turned to face the judge, "Get on with it, your baldness." The judge ended up doing the opening statement.
Ida Culler was accused of murdering her boss Lyven Zumbwi 3 days ago. Zumbwi was found stabbed to death with the murder weapon still in her body. Culler was arrested after her fingerprints were found on the scene.
It was time to call the first witness. Prosecutor Blackquill spoke, "The Prosecution calls Heidan Culler to the stand." Heidan was the defendant's brother, but they had a negative relationship. Once Heidan took the stand, Blackquill spoke, "Testify about the night of the incident. Any lies will be cut down by the steel of my blade."
The testimony started. Right away, I noticed a huge inconsistency. I pressed his statement, "Are you sure it was 10:45 pm?" I fluttered my fan slightly, putting my arm under my chest, propping it up more. The witness stuttered, "Yes. Absolutely." I smirked behind my fan, "I don't think so, Mr. Culler. You couldn't have seen the murder at 10:45." The judge spoke, "What do you mean Ms. (L/n)?"
I continued, "What I mean is that there was no murder to see at 10:45! The victim died around 8:45." I looked at the witness, "How do you explain this 2 hour late time gap!" There was a shout from the Prosecution, "Silence!"
I looked at Blackquill. He spoke, "Time gap? Malarkey! Witness, how did you know what time it was on the night of the murder?" The witness spoke, "I...I looked at the clock tower." Blackquill smirked, a hawk feather hanging from his mouth, "There you have it. That old clock tower is 2 hours fast. While the witness saw 10:45, it was actually 8:45." I shook my head, "Tsk, Tsk. Prosecutor Blackquill. Your honor, if I may present this?"
I pulled out a piece of paper. The judge spoke, "What is it?" I grinned, "I'm glad you asked. This is a statement from the clock tower's technician. The technician worked on the clock at 7:30 on the night of the incident. The clock was not running two hours fast!" Blackquill took the feather from his mouth and launched it towards me. When the tip hit the middle of my fan, I closed the fan and caught it. Then, I flicked the fan open, sending it back. It hit his chest.
He barely moved, but shock briefly flickered across his face before he went back to his normal blank look. I fluttered my fan, "Not today Blackquill. I'm not as easy as those other lawyers." The trial continued. Not even 15 minutes in, I had the judge and gallery completely enthralled. My brand of psychology wasn't suggestive, like Blackquill's.
It was a seductive kind of psychology.
(This is a thing. I had to look it up.)
Using softer, sensual tones when talking, or using my arms to make my chest stick out, it all worked in my favor. Soon enough, the trial came to an end. The judge spoke, "I declare the defendant, Ida Culler, not guilty."
I walked out of the courtroom, feeling good about my win. I headed out of the courthouse and called a taxi. I waited on the side of the building. I leaned on the wall and closed my eyes. Suddenly, a shadow cast over me. I opened my eyes to see Prosecutor Blackquill in front of me. I spoke, "Can I help you?" He looked at me, "You intrigue me (L/n)-dono." I smirked, my fan covering the bottom half of my face again, "I intrigue you? How cute. But I don't share my secrets with just anyone." He smirked.
"It's more than your face that I'm interested in." My taxi pulled up. I quickly scribbled down my number and handed it to him, "Is that so? Well, call me later, and I may take you up on your offer...Simon."
