Need Your Love (Knight! Phoenix x Princess! Reader)

Your Pov:

I sat in my room, listening to my sister, Mia, nag me. She sighed, "You always make things difficult." I scoffed, "You're deciding my future for me! Of course I'm being difficult." She spoke, "It is your duty as a princess to take care of your people! You don't have a choice." I stood up, "I cannot marry someone I don't love! There is no room in my heart." Mia looked at me, "You can and you will. Like I've said, you don't have a choice." I glared at her.

"Prince Kristoph is a pompous, arrogant, ugh-!" I huffed. Mia turned, walking towards the door. Before opening it, she spoke, "My decision is final. And don't think I don't know about your relationship with his best knight." With that she left the room. I sat back down, letting a few tears run down my cheeks.

Then, there was a knock at the door and a familiar voice, "Your highness, may I come in?" I wiped my face, "Come in." The door opened and Phoenix stepped in. He smiled at me, "I heard about everything. How are you?" I sighed, "I don't know. I don't love him like how I love you. I don't love him at all." Phoenix sat next to me and held my hands, "Everything will be alright. I love you." He touched his forehead to mine. I smiled.

Then, the door opened and I heard the voice of the person I despised, "It would be wise for you to remove yourself from my future queen, Sir Phoenix." Phoenix stood and bowed to Kristoph, "Yes, your majesty. I will take my leave." Phoenix left the room, closing the door behind him. Kristoph turned to me, "Was he bothering you, dear? I can have him beheaded for you if he was." He cupped the side of my face with his hand, "By the way, the wedding has been moved to the day after tomorrow. Goodnight."

He turned and left my room. I sighed and laid back on my bed. After a while, I headed down to the ball room. The prince wanted to observe my waltzing. I stood 6 feet from my partner, who, luckily, was Phoenix. The orchestra and singer started.

We walked to each other and bowed. Then, we began to dance. As we twirled around the floor, I began to unnoticeably mouth the words. I mouthed, "Romeo, save me. They're trying to tell me how to feel." Phoenix noticed it. I smiled faintly at him, then frowned. I mouthed along with the words, "I got tired of waiting. Wondering if you were ever coming around. My faith in you was fading."

Phoenix mouthed the next words, "He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said marry me Juliet. You'll never have to be alone." I mouthed the words with a small smile, "I love you and that's all I really know." Soon enough, the song ended and we bowed to each other. After that, I went back to my room. I laid on my bed trying to ignore the pain in my heart. I heard a tapping on my window. I stood up and walked over to my window, opening it.

I looked towards the ground, "Phoenix, what are you doing?" He looked up at me, "You don't have to do this. You can make the decision." I bit my lip, "I-I don't want to disappoint Mia, but..." He spoke, "We can runaway and be happy together." I took a deep breath and nodded, "Ok. Just give me a few minutes." I changed into a tunic and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. I started writing.

My dearest sister, Mia,

I'm sorry for leaving you to run the kingdom by yourself, but I cannot do what you've demanded of me. I know that I've disappointed you, but as your sister, I love you. Tell Maya that I love her as well.

I cannot stay where my heart can't be free. I hope, however, you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

I placed the note on my desk and went to the window. I looked down to Phoenix, "Ok. Catch me." I slid off of the window and he caught me in his arms. I smiled at him, "Let's go..."

No One's Pov:

The next morning, Mia entered the room to find it empty. Then, she spotted the note on the desk. She picked it up and read it. Tears sprung to her eyes. She looked towards the open window, curtains being gently blown by the wind, and mumbled.

"I've always known your duty was to your heart...I'm so sorry (Y/n)..."
