Your Pov:

I sighed as I cleaned up father's office. Apollo quit once father was arrested, leaving me to run the office alone. Clients still came from time to time, as I was also a lawyer, but it wasn't great.

I paused as the office phone rang. I put down my cleaning rag and went to answer the phone. The familiar automated voice for the prison phones came through. I pressed the right button and smiled as a familiar voice reached my ears.

"(Y/n), how is the office doing?" I bit my lip. "It's alright, father. I've had two clients this month. And I'm still alone here, but I'll be fine. I can always use the time to brush up on my knowledge and study." He chuckled. "You did well at your trials. They broadcasted them here at the prison. Your performance was wonderful, but I wouldn't expect anything less from my daughter."

As I went to speak, I heard the bell over the office entrance door jingle. I sighed. "Someone's here father. It might be a client. Call again soon. I love you." He hummed. "Of course. I love you more." I hung up the phone and hurried out to the front of the office.

"Welcome to Gavin & Co. Law Office! Can I-"

My eyes met Apollo's. I stopped mid-step. "Apollo...Hey..." He cleared his throat. "I, um, came to get some things from my desk. Can I...?" I nodded. "Go ahead. I left it untouched in case you came back." He nodded and walked past me to his old desk. I watched silently as he searched through one of the drawers before pulling out an organizer.

As he turned around, I looked away. He came next to me, putting a hand on my shoulder. "(Y/n), are you alright? Are you the only one running the office?" I tried to smile. "I'm alright, Apollo. I'm used to running the office by myself. It gives me more time to study. I can't fall behind you know."

He looked at his wrist, then back at me. "You'll always have a place with us at the agency. I'm sure Trucy and Athena would love to have another girl around." I shook my head. "I promised my father that I'd keep this office running. I've got to make him proud, you know?" Apollo sighed. "(Y/n), you're a wonderful lawyer. Why don't you take talent where it's wanted?"

I stepped back from him. "I shoulder my father's legacy so that I can make him proud. You might not understand Apollo, but it's my duty. I have to run the office, study to keep my brain sharp, and above all-" He cut me off, his voice sharp and cold.

"Be miss perfect? I think I understand enough, (Y/n)."

I flinched slightly. "Apollo..."

He continued. "I will never understand you. You strive for this perfection, this unwavering notion of having no flaws, but no one can ever achieve something like that."

I was silent as he spoke, his words piercing my heart with each sentence. "Your father did the same thing and look where it got him. Alone in a solitary confinement cell in prison. And yet, you insist on being miss-"

My eyes felt glossy, but I refused to cry. I looked at him, my eyes narrowed.

"Like I said, you don't understand. And you never will. My father was and still is, everything to me. He took me in when no one else wanted me and he raised me as his own. I owe everything to him. I..."

I took a deep breath before continuing. "His expectations are my guide. If I fail...fail to reach them, then what does that make me? Nothing short of a failure. And father...he believes that there is no room in the court for failures. So I have to be 'miss perfect' even it it hurts in the long run..."

Apollo silently stared at me. I closed my eyes, trying to ignore the tears on my cheeks. Then, I felt...

Apollo hugging me.

His arms were warm, and safe, and comforting. I hugged him back, burying my face in his shoulder as I cried. He rubbed my back as he waited for me to calm down. Once I was done, I pulled away from his shoulder. "Thanks for calming me down, Apollo. But you should get going before Mr. Wright sends Athena to look for you."

He looked at me. "(Y/n), please think about what I said. We will always have an open spot for you." I nodded. "I will, Apollo." With that, he turned and walked out of the office.

I resumed my cleaning and once I was done, I started studying. But I couldn't focus. Each time, my mind wondered back to Apollo.

Back when he was working under my father, about 2 years ago, I had a slight crush on him. When father found out, he was not happy. He made sure that I was never alone with Apollo and that Apollo never spoke to me outside of the office.

Even now, I still had a crush on Apollo.

I stood up from my seat at the desk, walking towards the window and looking at the setting sun.

'Forgive me for this, father...'

...

The stars dotted the vast night sky as I came to a stop in front of a door. I shifted the box in my arms, knocking on the door. A few seconds later the door opened.

"(Y/n), what are you doing here?"

I smiled at him. "Got room for one more, Apollo?" He smiled back. "Always. Come in. I'll let Mr. Wright know you're here." I followed him inside. Their office was bright and cheery. Athena and Trucy sat on the couch, talking about something.

As Apollo went to get Mr. Wright, I sat the box on the table. Athena and Trucy turned to me. Athena was the first to spring up. "Did Apollo finally do it?! Did he?!" I tilted my head. "Do what?" She grinned. "Conf-" Apollo shot into the room, cutting her off.

"That's enough, Athena!"

She giggled and nudged him before sitting back down next to Trucy. Mr. Wright spoke up from next to Apollo. "So, you want to join our humble agency, huh?" I smiled. "If you'll have me, sir." He grinned. "Then we'd be honored to have you. Maybe you can teach these two something."

"Mr. Wright!"

"Boss!"

I nodded. "Thank you, sir." After that, Apollo spoke up. "(Y/n)...can I talk to you?" I looked at him. "Of course, Apollo." He led me outside, not saying a word. Once the door was shut, he turned to me.

"(Y/n), I...I'm really glad you decided to become a part of the agency. And I..."

I tilted my head. "And you...?" His face was slowly turning red as he tried to speak. As I realized what was happening, I started to feel my own face heating up. I bit my lip.

"Here, why don't I just guess what you're trying to say? I've already got an idea. Close your eyes though."

He closed his eyes. I took a deep breath to calm my nerves and leaned in, kissing him.

His hand made its way to the back of my neck, gently pulling me closer. My hands settled on the back of his head, pulling him in. Just as the kiss got deeper, a squeal filled the air.

We quickly pulled away from each other. Athena stood in the open doorway, squealing with Trucy as Mr. Wright jokingly shook his head behind them. "Alright, don't eat each other's faces off, you two. Get inside before you catch a cold."

He pulled the two girls back inside before shutting the door. Apollo grabbed my hand, intertwining his fingers with mine. "I love you, (Y/n)." I squeezed his hand. "I love you too, Apollo." As we turned to head back inside, I looked at him.

"You know we're going to have to tell my father about this, right?"

"..."

"Apollo!"

"Ok! Ok! Just warn me before we do..."
