I walked through the manor, dusting and sweeping as I went. The various other maids and butlers were taking care of their assigned rooms. As I passed one of them, I heard two voices. I stopped outside the door.
"Well, the maid's certainly shot up the ladder!"
"What? Which one?"
"(Y/n)! She's pregnant with the young master's child! A pity, really."
The voices paused for a moment, then continued.
"Yes, a pity. If the young master doesn't wake up, well, (Y/n) will be out of here."
"That's right! The young master's father will take back the manor and he never really liked her."
"Oh! And they've decided to give it one more week before they sort out the young master's will. According to the others, he's left something for the servants."
"Shh! Don't spread that around! The less that know, the more we get. Now, get back to work. Who knows who's listening?"
I quickly headed upstairs and into the final room on my list. As I entered, I came to a stop.
At the end of each day, the last room on my list was Clay's room. I'd keep it clean and prepared in case he ever woke up. It always made me sad, but I did it anyways.
'Clay...please wake up. You need to wake up...'
...
As I finished up for the day, a knock came from the front door. I dusted off my clothes before answering the door. "Oh, Mr. Justice. How can I help you?" He looked at me, a tired look in his eyes as he tried to smile. "I told you to call me Apollo, didn't I? And...I'm here to deliver Clay's will..." I tensed at the mention of Clay's name. "His will? Why do you have it?"
He sighed. "Clay gave it to me after he was accepted at the space center. He said that it was safest in my possession, so I agreed to hold onto it until he needed it. Clay's father asked me to deliver it here." I looked down. "They're going to sort through it in one week. I don't know what it says, but I can only hope to receive something."
He rose a brow. "You're pregnant with his child. If he didn't amend that will to leave you with something, I'll make sure that you're taken care of." I nodded. "Thank you, Apollo. I'll take this to where it needs to go."
After that, I took the will to the young master's study, where his father was, and gave it to him.
Now, I had one week to wait...
...
That week passed slowly, with no updates from the hospital. And when it came time to read the will, all the servants crowded into the foyer as Clay's father read the will from the to of the stairs in front of the foyer.
"Quiet! Now, this will has been verified as valid and legally binding. Today is the first time I will see this will, so not even I know what's inside."
Everyone watched in silence as he pulled the will from the envelope and started to read it out loud.
"I, Clay Terran, revoke my former Wills and Codicils and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament."
"I direct that my residuary estate be distributed to my partner, (Y/n) (L/n). If my partner does not survive me, my residuary estate shall be distributed to my child."
