Life And Death (Miles Edgeworth x Goddess! Reader)

No One's Pov:

Miles Edgeworth walked down the street, files clutched under his arm. The sky was overcast and no one was out. As he passed the park, he
Stopped, a glint catching his eye. He looked through the open gates of the park to see a woman standing a few yards away. She wore very elegant clothing for someone at a park.

(Dress Above!)

She seemed to glow under the shade of the tree. He noticed that she wore a peculiar headpiece in her hair. Jewels sat shining in every crevice. Flowers were attached to the center and sides of the headpiece.

He continued to watch her intently

He continued to watch her intently. He spotted next to her what looked like a wolf. It's fur was a pure gold color, except for the top of it's head right above it's eyes where white fur was shaped into a diamond. It sat at the woman's side, looking at her. He blinked, rubbing his eyes, thinking he was seeing things. When he opened his eyes, the woman and the wolf were gone, like they were never even there in the first place. He shook his head and continued on his way to work.

To Your Pov:

As soon as the man rubbed his eyes, I teleported further into the park. He wasn't supposed to see me but that can't be helped. It's not good because, I'm the goddess of life. It means I can choose who lives, and unfortunately, who dies. But living can be just as much of a curse as it is a blessing. I chose to let Dahlia Hawthorne live, but only to spite her and her plans. On her execution date, I continually stopped each attempt until they decided to go with life in prison.

She became angry, but it was amusing for me. She eventually tried to kill herself to follow through with her plans, but I stopped her each time. She eventually gave up.

(Using made up storyline for the Dahlia segment)

And the poor man she manipulated, Terry, I let him live. He drank the poison, but I knew he needed to live. And so, I let him.

I've seen many lifes and many deaths. Some of which I regret, but, it is what I must learn to live with.

That man from earlier though, he caught my interest. I made myself transparent, sending my wolf back home for now. I was able to catch up to the man and I followed him to a large building. He went up many flights of stairs before arriving at another office I assumed was his. He sat at the desk, reading through the files he was carrying. I watched him for a while, taking in every detail. He was very handsome.

I had become so distracted, that I didn't realize that I was becoming less transparent by the minute. Suddenly, his eyes widened as he stood, "How did you get in here?" Then I realized that he could see me. I bit my lip, "You wouldn't believe me." He scoffed, "Try me." I sighed, "I'm...a goddess. Technically, a goddess of life." He huffed, "Prove it." I noticed the flowers on the window sill, "Watch this." He watched the flowers as I made them bloom again. He looked at me, "So you speak the truth. But, why are you here?" I blushed slightly.

"I just find you interesting."

After that, he allowed me sit with him in his office as he worked. Sometimes, I would help him with paperwork. I hadn't told him yet, but in some of the cases he and others worked on, witnesses who were supposed to be dead, were not. But it's not like he knew this. Her wolf, (Wolf Name), was the one to drag Phoenix Wright from Eagle River and save his life. (Wolf Name) also saved Regina Berry from being killed. They were sent by me each time.

However, the public caught on. Pictures of (Wolf Name) surfaced on magazines and tabloids. They were always from far away, making it harder to see. They called them 'Mercy' for the way they would save people. They were praised highly by everyone. Unfortunately, it wouldn't last forever.

In the case of the murder of Juan Corrida, I noticed Franziska and Miles becoming close. Too close. It upset me deeply. As Franziska made her way to the courthouse, I sent (Wolf Name) after her. As I arrived at the courtroom, the news had spread. Franziska had been shot in the shoulder by an unknown assailant and was taken to the hospital. She would live. People in the area claimed to have seen (Wolf Name) push Franziska into the assailant's sight before running off.

It was exactly what I sent them to do. No one messes with the Goddess of Life and gets away with it. It's like my own version of Karma. (Wolf Name), however, was called 'the hellhound', 'demon dog', and 'hellspawn'. Miles spoke with me days later in his office. He sat at his desk, "People claimed to have seen your wolf when Franziska was shot. Why?" I bit my lip, "I sent them. You know my role in life and death." He paused, "Were they there to protect her or kill her? Everyone says your wolf pushed her into the line of fire!" I shrunk back.

"They might not have been fast enough to get her out of the way completely. Do you think I'd lie to you? Would I lie to someone I loved?!" I put a hand over my mouth. He looked at me, shock flashing through his eyes, "You love me?" I paused, nodding slightly, "Y-Yes..." He looked away, "I have...feelings...for you as well." I smiled. He continued, "But since I am a human and you are a goddess, could this even work?"

I nodded, "I'll make it work. I promise." He sighed, "Alright."

We spent years together until Miles eventually asked me to marry him. I told him yes. When we got married, some of my powers transferred to him, also giving him his own animal, a white wolf with golden fur shaped into a diamond on their forehead.

I knew that as long as we had each other, we'd be happy. So my life was complete, all of my regrets blown away in the winds of time and change...
