Family Portrait (Brother! Kristoph x Sister! Reader x Brother! Klavier)

Your Pov:

I sat in the living room, trying not to listen as my brothers argued. They had been arguing for hours since Kristoph told us the news.

...

(Hours earlier...)

I smiled at Kristoph as he entered the living room. "Welcome home." Klavier sat on the sofa, tuning his guitar. "Hey." Kristoph hummed. "Yes, well, I have some news I think you two should know about." I looked at him. "What is it?" Klavier was still tuning his guitar but I was sure that he was listening. Kristoph sat in the armchair by the fireplace.

"As you both know, before mother and father passed, much of our income came from their stocks and bonds in cargo."

Klavier nodded. "What about it? You took over their stocks and bonds like the will said." Kristoph looked at him. "Well, a cargo ship that held much of our cargo crashed just off the shore, destroying all of the cargo onboard." I tilted my head. "And what does that mean for us?" Kristoph sighed. "Our income has taken a massive hit. (Y/n), we won't be able to continue paying your tuition for Themis."

I frowned. "What?!" Klavier huffed. "Surely we make enough together to pay for it." Kristoph shook his head. "With paying property taxes, our own law expenses, and everything else, there just isn't enough." Klavier looked at him. "Being an attorney is her dream! You can't just take that from her."

Kristoph cut him off. "I never said I was going to. Someone has offered to help us." I looked at Klavier before looking at him. "Someone?" Kristoph slightly smiled. "One of my colleagues has asked for your hand, my dear sister. He is willing to pay for your education." I flinched as the strings on Klavier's guitar broke. Klavier looked at Kristoph. "You'd marry off our sister to a complete stranger for money?!"

Kristoph shook his head. "Klavier, you want her to have a proper education, don't you? Without it, who knows where she'll end up. Do you want to be the reason she takes up drugs and becomes a common wh*re?" Klavier flinched slightly. "This isn't about me, Kristoph. But you can't force (Y/n)!"

...

(Back to the present...)

I pulled my knees to my chest as their voices got louder. Klavier shook his head. "Why does this colleague of yours want to marry her anyways?!" Kristoph hummed. "Why not? She comes from a prestigious family with a wonderful background. She's well-educated and beautiful. The perfect wife for any wealthy man."

Klavier stood, standing face to face with Kristoph. "She is not some trophy to be put on display. She has dreams and goals, a whole life out there!" Kristoph narrowed his eyes. "As I have said, (Y/n) has a choice in the matter, but if she doesn't marry, she will have to stop attending Themis."

Klavier turned and grabbed my hand. "Let's go, (Y/n). You can stay with me and finish your schooling. We have to pack your things." I looked up at him. "But..." Kristoph sighed. "Klavier, you can't take car of her and yourself. With your tours and work, you're so busy nowadays." Klavier pulled me towards the hall. "We'll be fine."

With that, Klavier took me to my room and started helping me pack. I grabbed one of my law textbooks off the shelf. "Klavi...I don't want to burden you." He turned to me. "You aren't a burden, schatz." I put the book in my suitcase and paused as I turned to the nightstand.

On it sat a framed photo of the three of us. I sat in the armchair in the living room while Kristoph stood on my left and Klavier leaned against the chair on my right. Behind us, out parents' wedding portrait hung on the wall. I sighed. "In our family portrait we look pretty happy, huh?"

Klavier looked at the photo, then put it in the suitcase. "Back then, we could just act like it came naturally."

Once we were finished, Klavier took my suitcase downstairs, leaving me alone in the room. I drew the curtains closed and left the room. Klavier was in the foyer with Kristoph, waiting. I turned to Kristoph as I reached Klavier's side. "Goodbye, Kris..." He looked at Klavier, then at me.

"I will see you again soon, little one."

With that, we were gone, leaving no trace that we were ever there in the first place...
