Kitchen Romance (Damon Gant x Reader)

Requested by MysteriousLostOne

A/N: Gant is still older in this one, but reader is 18 or above.

Your Pov:

I stood in the kitchen, cooking a dinner that consisted of spaghetti and meatballs with some garlic bread. My phone sat on the counter next to me, playing some music from my playlist. I smiled as a familiar song came on.

Since nobody was home, I started to sing, swaying slightly.

"Lord I've been prayin' for somebody I've never seen. And I don't care what he looks like, as long as he loves me. No I'm not particular..."

I thought about Damon. He was many years older than me and everyone disapproved of our relationship from the start, but he loved me and I loved him. He held me on my bad days and laughed with me on my good days.

"But could he have blue eyes just like the sky and blonde hair. Wavy and light. And 6 foot 2 is my favorite height, but lord I don't care what he looks like..."

(That description though...hmm...)

A lot of my previous partners had the looks, but they were pieces of crap on the inside. Damon was the only one who didn't have that kind of personality. And that's what I liked about him. He was amazing.

I stirred the sauce to keep it from burning and placed the noodles into the pot. I looked towards the fridge, smiling at the pictures pinned to it.

"I've been gettin' so lonesome, waiting for him to come around. But if you're teaching me patience, I'm willing to wait this one out. I'll be patient."

Before I met Damon, I was sad and alone. No one wanted to be with me, so I tried to shut the world out. But, he wouldn't let me. He would take me shopping or swimming, and somehow, it worked. I wanted to be outside more. I spent every holiday with him. I wanted to be with him.

"But could we meet by the first of July? So he'll hold my hand, as they light up the sky. And marry me on an April night. But lord take your sweet, sweet time."

I sighed, taking the bread out of the oven, turning it off. I grabbed some plates from the cabinet.

"Whatever you want, is whatever I want. I'm not particular..."

The kitchen door opened and Damon stepped in. I paused the song on my phone. I spoke, "Welcome home. You're just in time for dinner." He smiled, "I missed you today. By the way, you sing wonderfully dear. Sing for me?" I blushed and nodded. I unpaused the music and sang again.

Damon gently gripped my hand and waist as we swayed around the kitchen without a care in the world.

"So if he has green eyes that would be fine. Or brown hair, that's quite alright. Now, 6 foot 2 is my favorite height, but lord I don't care..."

I smiled at him as he spun me around.  Doing this, just dancing in the kitchen, made me so happy. I didn't need fancy dinner dates, jewellery, or cars to be happy. This was more than enough.

"And could we meet by the first of July.
So he'll hold my hand as they light up the sky. And marry me! oh marry me!
Marry me on an April night..."

Our dancing came to a stop as I sang the last line.

"But lord take your sweet, sweet time. And lord, I don't care what he looks like."

I leaned up and we shared a kiss. I pulled away and smiled, "I love you, Damon." He looked at me, "And I love you, (Y/n). That will never change."
