Deceiving (Raymond Shields x Katherine Halls' Sister! Reader)
A/N: We're back! Reader is a year younger than Raymond!
Your Pov:
I quietly made tea as Katherine went around, checking in on the guests. I slightly jumped when I noticed Ray next to me.
I met Ray during the IS-7 incident when Mr. Master was arrested. We got quite close and became very good friends. We kept in contact with each other and I kind of developed feelings for the man.
"Ray, warn me next time!"
He chuckled, "Sorry angel, I didn't mean to give you a fright. I'm just checking in." I sighed, "I'm fine, Ray. It's Kate I'm worried about. All of this has upset her a lot."
He looked over at Kate, who was speaking with Mr. Edgeworth. He looked back at me, "Something doesn't feel right with her though. It's like she's trying to hide something." I bit my lip, "Kate? Hiding something? I don't know." Ray rose a brow, "Well, you're her sister, aren't you? I'd like to think you know her pretty well."
I wiped my hands on my apron as I turned to him. My dress swayed slightly.

"That's the thing, Ray. I'd like to think that I know her pretty well, but everyone has secrets." Ray nodded, ",I guess you're right. But keep an eye on her for me, will you?" I nodded and Ray smiled at me before walking away.
...
I watched as Katherine was led out of the mansion by the detective. I slumped down by the fountain and sat against it. The water in the fountain had been drained and replaced. I let my hand dip into the cool water, swirling it around.
'Kate...We promised to wait for Mr. Master together...'
I ignored Ray as he kneeled next to me. He grabbed my unoccupied hand and placed something in it. I looked over to see a coin in my hand. Ray smiled at me, "Don't look so sad. I promised to defend Kate, didn't I? So why don't you use that coin and wish for Mr. Master and Kate's swift return?"
I smiled and closed my eyes for a moment before tossing the coin into the fountain. It sunk under the water with a light splash before resting on the bottom. I turned to Ray.
"Thank you for that. I really needed it."
Ray chuckled, "Oh, it was nothing, angel. But how about we get something to eat before going to see Mr. Master and Kate?" I smiled, "Sure, but I have to be back in time to clean up the mansion for Mr. Master's return. And then, we'll wait for Kate together."
Ray grabbed my hand and gently pulled me up, "I'm sure he'll appreciate that. And Kate too, but for now, focus on yourself."
The two of us walked towards the doors. I paused and looked back one more time, looking at the fountain. The coin glinted and shined under the water. I turned back to Ray with one thought in mind.
