Your Pov:

I laid in the shade, watching some pups play. My own pups would be here soon and I looked forward to it. I looked up towards mine and Miles' den. Many members of the pack were sat in front of it. It was probably a meeting, but I decided to be nosey.

I got up from my spot and crept up to the den. I stood still and listened. I heard Miles' voice, "This war is fast approaching and we must make all preparations now. You will be allowed to say your goodbyes but you must make it quick. This war has killed off countless packs. They have even managed to kill Alpha Sahdmadhti."

I almost gasped, but stopped myself. Miles hadn't even told me about this. I continued listening. Miles continued, "They will be here in 3 days time. Say your goodbyes tonight. Training begins tomorrow. Dismissed." I quickly moved back down to my spot. I watched as families and mates said their goodbyes. Miles hadn't come out of the den. I walked to the den and went inside. Miles laid in the back, facing away. I spoke, "Miles?"

He turned to me, "(Y/n)?" I sat next to him, "What is this war everyone's talking about?" He sighed, "Don't worry about it. Everything will be fine." I licked his muzzle, "I hope so." I laid down next to him. That same night, I went into labor. Miles called for Ema and she helped me through it. In the end, I had one boy and a girl.

The boy was born first with his sister coming a few minutes later. The boy had Miles' fur color while the girl had my fur color with streaks of Miles' silver. Miles came in a while later and curled up next to me. He spoke quietly, "Thank you...for giving me a family (Y/n)." I smiled, "I love you."

The next day, I woke up to an empty den. My pups were still asleep. Miles was out somewhere. After a few minutes, they awoke, their small whimpers filling the air. I smiled and nuzzled them as they ate. Throughout the day, Ema came to check on us and bring food for me. As night fell, Miles returned to the den. He curled around the pups and I before falling asleep. I closed my eyes and drifted off.

The next morning, I took the pups out of the den. The atmosphere was heavy. Everyone looked so sad. A large group of wolves gathered in the middle of the dens. From my position, I could see Klavier, Gumshoe, Sebastian, Godot, and John. Seeing John there confused me. He was so young. I couldn't believe that Justine would let him fight.

Ema was with them as the pack medic, I assumed. Their goodbyes had been said and the ones staying behind, hid in their dens. Suddenly, a howl pierced the air. My pups began to cry. The wolves in the middle of the dens got into a defensive stance with Miles standing in front of them all.

A group of at least 20 wolves came from the trees.

The fought had begun.

Cries, yelps, snarls, and growls filled the air. I put my pups by my legs, but before I could move a wolf jumped in front of me. He was bigger than the other invaders. He was the alpha of that pack. He spoke, "What do we have here? Aren't you a pretty little thing. Maybe I'll keep you around after I kill your mate." A silver blur knocked him down. It was Miles.

He looked at me, "Take our pups and run! You know where to go. They'll be waiting." I spoke, "B-But-!" He cut me off, "Go!" I picked up our pups by the scruff and ran as fast as I could. Yelps and growls filled my ears as I ran through the chaos. My pups began to whimper but I couldn't stop running. I ran into the treeline and looked back one last time. In that moment, I saw the alpha of the other pack grip Miles' throat in his jaws as Miles' struggled.

I turned and kept running until I was far far away from our territory. I soaked my fur in water to remove my scent and did the same with the pups. I traveled until it got dark. I took shelter in an abandoned den and let my pups eat. After they fell asleep, I cried softly to myself. Then, I drifted off to sleep. I started moving early the next morning. I knew where I was headed, but it was a long trip.

I traveled for two more days before I arrived on the territory. I walked until I was intercepted by two wolves: a brown furred one and a black furred one. I spoke, "Apollo, I need you to take me to Phoenix." He nodded and turned to the black furred wolf, "Clay, go alert him please." The black furred wolf nodded and rushed off. I picked up my pups and Apollo led me to the main territory. Dens were spread out evenly and everything seemed to be at peace.

Just like we used to be.

He took me up to a large den, "Here's your stop. Go on in." I nodded and hurried inside. I gently put my pups down when I spotted Phoenix. I spoke, "Phoenix..." He turned to me, "(Y/n)? Is Edgeworth...?" I looked down, "I don't know. He told me to run and find you. It's just my pups and I." He sighed, "Alpha Sahdmadhti and now Edgeworth. You aren't the only one needing shelter. The Khura'in royal pack is also here."

He continued, "If the war spreads here, our numbers are larger than theirs. We will have to fight." I bowed my head, "I will be sure to greet them, but for now, could you show me to a den? My pups and I are tired." He nodded, "Follow me." He took me to an empty den, "You can stay here for as long as you need to. If anything happens, I'll let you know."

I laid down, my pups cuddling against me, "Alright. Thank you." Then he turned and left. I laid on my side, resting my head on the flat rocky floor. I closed my eyes before I could cry and fell asleep.

Was Miles dead?

Was he alive?

I wouldn't get answers to these questions for a long, long time.
