Kiera POV
When morning came, I lay in bed staring out the window, the sun's rays offering no comfort. Jackson's scent was faint, a painful reminder of his absence.
Eventually, I made my way downstairs, tension coiling in my stomach as I caught his scent more strongly. Jackson was here, somewhere in the packhouse. But I wasn't ready to face him yet, to confront the shattered illusion of the perfect life I thought we had.
The sight of him, though, stopped me cold. Jackson, the man I loved, sat on the couch, looking utterly destroyed. His brown hair was a disheveled mess from where he'd been pulling on it. He still wore the same suit from last night, now a wrinkled mess with his white shirt unbuttoned. He looked up at me, his eyes red and swollen from crying.
"Just reject me!" I shouted, my voice cracking under the weight of my anguish. My soul felt like it was being torn apart.
"What?" Jackson's head snapped up, eyes widening. He looked as shattered as I felt.
"I saw you, Jackson. I know what you did. Just reject me. I don't want your apologies or excuses. Just do it." My voice wavered, tears threatening to spill.
My knees buckled, and I crumpled to the floor, sobbing into my hands. The pain of his betrayal was too much to bear. I didn't want to lose him, but facing the reality of his infidelity was even worse.
"Kiera, no, you're wrong," Jackson said, tears streaming down his face. "I fucked up. I know I did, and I know you won't forgive me easily, but I can't lose you. I love you, sweetheart. You're my wife, my mate. Yell at me, hate me, but please don't ask me to reject you." His words were raw, desperate.
"You disappeared all night, Jackson," I cried. "You left your pack alone during an attack to... to be with someone else, blocking out my pleas for help."
"No, that's not what happened. I did leave with her, and I'm sorry for that, but I didn't block you out. I would never do that, sweetheart."
"It doesn't matter. I can't share you. I can't accept you with someone else. It's not fair!" I shook my head, tears streaming down my face. I hated him for what he did, but I also loved him deeply.
"I would never ask you to share me." His voice was low, almost a whisper. My eyes widened, trying to grasp what he was saying.
I frantically searched his neck. "You didn't mark her?" I cried out, barely believing my own words.
"Kiera, it was just the pull. It wasn't real. The fated bond is like a veil over our eyes," he said, his hands cupping my face. "The second I realized what was happening, I fought it. I left her to come back to you, but then I was knocked out. I only woke up an hour ago."
I stared at him, speechless. Of all the scenarios I had imagined, Jackson choosing only me had never crossed my mind.
"You rejected your fated for me?" I whispered, disbelief clear in my voice.
"Of course I did. Kiera, you are my mate, my wife, my entire life. I know I hurt you, and I swear I'll accept any punishment, but please don't ask me to reject you. Please don't leave me." My strong Alpha was on his knees, begging for my forgiveness.
I gasped, my chest heaving with emotion. Then, a smile broke across my face. I flung myself into his arms, wrapping them around his neck.
"I love you, Jackson. I'm so sorry you had to give up your fated. You don't owe me anything," I said, kissing his neck where my mark proudly stood since we married.
He sighed in relief, holding me tightly. "Thank you, sweetheart. I'll be forever grateful you forgave me." He lifted my head and kissed me deeply.
"Take me to bed and make love to me. I want just you, Jackson. I want to start our family. I don't want to wait anymore," I begged, feeling an overwhelming need to create a new life with him.
"A baby!" he exclaimed, a surprised smile lighting up his face. "You and Athena want to make our own little pups?"
"Yes, I want you inside me, and I want to make perfect children. Our pack's next Alpha." I bit my lip, tears of love and happiness filling my eyes.
He swept me into his arms, and all day, we were cocooned around each other, forgetting everything that had happened. His body molded into mine, and he caressed my wanting skin with nothing but pure pleasure.
I had never felt more connected to him than I did as he made love to me in our bed for hours. He was my true strength, and now he was mine forever.
