Kiera POV

"She needs rest, Alpha." The unknown man moved closer to my bed. I looked at him, a straggly old man with a thick beard and a cane he leaned on. He looked and smelled of a rogue, but his wolf was barely present inside him.

"She needs to know her place." Jackson spat out, his eyes never leaving mine.

"If you wish to have her by your side, then you need to make sure she lives. This pregnancy won't be easier on her or her body. You see how fast Katherine has already begun to deteriorate. Do you want that for your wife?" The man asked of Jackson. I sat frozen on the bed. I couldn't process their words. I had to be mistaken, misunderstanding what they were saying.

"No, of course not," Jackson growled, then grunted in pain. It seemed the black disease on his neck punished him whenever he called on his wolf. "She can rest for now, but the bracelet remains on her. I will come to fetch her for dinner." He ordered the man, then looked back to me. His eyes were soft and touch gentle. "Rest, sweetheart. Once this child is born, we will give him to the forest, and then we can finally be together." Jackson leaned to me, kissing my forehead, and rose to his feet.

"I brought you here for your magic. Make sure she survives, or I'll happily rip your heart out. Understood, rogue?" Jackson warned him.

"I wouldn't dare cross my Alpha. Your wife is in good hands. Go take care of your duties, and I will ensure she is ready for dinner." The old man nodded to Jackson.

"I want her healed completely. I have waited long enough to feel my mate again. Tonight will be long for Kiera, and I don't want her passing out on me." Jackson turned to me with a grin that made a shiver run down my spine.

"I would never touch you!" I spat on the floor by his feet, enraging him again, but I didn't care. I wouldn't be his in bed or any other way with him ever again.

His whole hand cupped my chin roughly. "You will be mine, and the next child you carry will be my son, the Alpha our pack needs. You are their Luna and my wife. It is your duty to provide us with a strong Alpha."

"You have Amy. She is your Luna, not me."

Jackson laughed, head falling back as his grip tightened on my face. "She is worthless!" He said, looking back down at me. "Our first child was a weak Delta female. My firstborn should have been an Alpha, and Amy gave me nothing of value. You, Kiera, you will give me the sons I deserve, our pack deserves."

This time, I laughed at him. "Our firstborn." I mocked. "He was an Alpha, your son that you killed by placing this damn chain on me." I held my wrist to him.

"What?" Jackson pulled me from the bed, and I felt my neck stretch painfully in his grasp.

"When you first placed this on my wrist, then raped your so-called wife, you got me pregnant. The silver weakened my body, killed our child, and made it nearly impossible for me to bear another. You had your son, but like everything in your life, you destroyed him."

"You lie!" He shouted, the black veins beating violently from his neck. I feared they would burst, spewing whatever poison filled his body.

"I'm not lying. Your doctor can tell you the truth. Go, ask him if I was ever pregnant before, or if there is so much scar tissue in my womb, it would be hard to keep another child to full term."

Jackson shook his head at me, tears forming in his eyes. "It's not true." He practically whispered before turning from me. He slammed the silver cage door shut, hissing at the pain in his neck, and stomped away.

"Another prison?" I asked myself, looking around the thick bars that surrounded me. This was much larger than the last cell Jackson placed me in and decorated with carpets, a desk, and a large bed.
