Drake POV
I could feel my brothers taking pleasure with a woman all night, but I had no desire for any. That night I found my mate at the dingy club everything snapped in place for me. She enraged me to have such control over my body. I wanted to break her pretty little neck to cause such a whirlwind inside me. Then I wanted to stab myself in the heart for daring to hurt her.
For ten years, I dedicated myself to honing my skills, aiming for the pinnacle of control. One second with her little body as mine and I no longer knew who I was. It was exhilarating bathing in her all night, but when morning came, I had to walk away.
I steeled my emotions and resolved to erase her existence from my mind. Despite my efforts, it didn't unfold as planned. I found myself growing increasingly determined to rid her from my thoughts, but my efforts were futile.
Then there she stood, resembling a goddess, and only a mere hundred feet away. My heartbeat quickened, palms sweating, and mouth dry. The urge to mark her surged within me, compelling me to leave the party before succumbing to the impulse.
I knew Chase indulged in her that night. I felt every pleasure it woke inside him. I yearned to touch her again and it only made me go more insane. No one should wield that much control over another, especially not over me.
Now Chase wanted to kill her and I saw the blood thirst in River's eyes. I tried blocking the need to protect her from my soul, but it was too late. I met my mate, I tasted her, and I wanted her.
I understood our responsibilities as Alphas, both to each other and to our pack. Despite an old prophecy foretelling her as our downfall, I couldn't entertain the idea of hurting her.
As I lay in bed awake, I knew River wasn't finding sleep easily either. Chase, on the other hand, was passed out like a baby.
I needed to tell my brother everything, something I wasn't very good at.
"We need to talk," I ordered River, my voice rough and filled with pain. I didn't enjoy expressing what was on my mind or really feeling anything at all.
Kiera made it impossible not to feel, and I had no idea what to do with the multitude of emotions consuming me. My brothers and I needed to get on the same page, or she would rip us apart without even being next to us.
"What's up?" River walked in, hair messy and chest bare. He sat on the bed across from me with arms on his knees. He looked worse off than I did. I wasn't sure if it was our mate affecting him too, but I also didn't care to have a long heart to heart.
I cut straight to the point. "You know I met her before all this."
"Yeah, Drake. I knew the second I smelt her she was the woman you had the night before. Why didn't you tell us?" River's eyes bore into mine.
"The truth?" I scratched my jaw.
"Of course, the truth."
"I didn't want her harmed. I thought I would walk away and never see her again."
"She is their Luna and tried to hurt us. We have to deal with her," River asserted.
"I know, but my wolf won't let you harm her. I can feel she is in pain, and it is gutting my insides. I can't block her out," I growled in frustration at the turmoil this woman caused me.
"You can feel her?" He asked in shock. We weren't marked, and somehow she didn't even know what we were to her. I could feel her like she was a part of me, though.
The door popped open, and Chase walked in with a big yawn. "Do you two often meet behind my back?" He lay behind River, folding the pillow under his head.
