Part 118 ~ The day the earth shook

It was just a normal day, everyone was working hard as usual, building new homes, harvesting for the winter, taking care of the animals. Many beasts had been sent to the city to help rebuild it, they needed a lot of help before winter so everyone was working hard. Alma was out playing with Gudda and the goats, she was running after her and laughing while Tram and Kóngur were panicking that she was running too fast, Alma was having the time of her life when her water broke, she stopped running looked at Tram and told him that her eggs were finally going to be delivered. Tram was cool as a cucumber while kóngur was not, he had no idea what to do so Alma gave him a job to calm him down, she told him to go and find Pistris and ask him to find Hafthor and tell him that her labour was starting, she did not need to tell the spider twice, he ran as fast as he could to try to find the shark. Tram put Alma in his arms and walked back home with her with Gudda bellowing behind him. He had delivered a few cubs in his life but since it was his Alma it was a little more stressful, still Alma took the time to comfort him and tell him she was fine, she had already given birth two times, she could do it again.

Pistris hurried back to the ocean so he could locate Hafthor as fast as he could, he knew Hafthor would want to be there for the birth, it was after all his first ever eggs being born. He put out a signal so that Hafthor would know he was searching for him but Hafthor was far away, he was trying to get rid of the beasts that wanted to take over his territory, it was best to strike first before they would, Pistris did not know that he would be the one to put an end to the war between the beasts. Pistris knew what was happening in the ocean, he had not done anything to help either side since he had been too busy pursuing his mate but now he was a mated beasts and had more time, he wanted to aid the merman king in his war, he was huge and would be very valuable if there was a fight, he could easily kill whales and other big predators, they had to protect their space to make Alma safe.

While Pistris was hunting down Hafthor, Alma's labour was starting, the pain came fast, it did not seem that her labour would take a long time this time, it was after all much easier to birth eggs than a cub. Still it did hurt and Alma did not like pain much, she started to cry, her back was killing her and the cramps in her uterus were excruciating, all her mates had gathered around her to show her support, Odin curled behind her and helped her cool down, Tram was focused on the labour and was encouraging her to be strong. Askell held her hand, telling her that she was the bravest female he had ever known and she could do this, he told her he could not wait to see how many eggs they would have, Alma smiled, she was so happy that all of them were there to support her, they were a family and family was there for each other, still the did not crowd her, they took turns on holding her hands and helping Tram with whatever he asked for. This was not going to be a long delivery, Tram was sure of it, he had hoped Hafthor would be able to be there to see his eggs being born but it did not look like he would make it, the eggs would come very soon, just as he was thinking of it Alma felt the need to push, it was not hard at all, with one push came the first egg. The egg was blue it was a similar size of an eagle egg, it was glowing, like it was happy to be finally born, soon after the first egg came the other ones did also, with each push she made an egg was born, she was in labour for over two hours and she gave birth to twenty three eggs, Alma did not think they would be that many, she had always thought she would have five or sis but twenty three was just incredible, she looked around not seeing Hafthor anywhere, she was a little let down that he had not been there at the birth but she knew he had a lot to deal with, now she worried that he was dealing with too many things and did not have time to take their cubs to incubate. Alma was a little glum but Odin told her not to worry Pistris would find Hafthor soon and bring him back.

Pistris had finally located Hafthor and swam as fast as he could to his location. Pistris could see there was a battle taking place the mer clan were having a hard time fighting everyone but still they were strong and what the shark could see was that they were likelier to succeed but nothing was guaranteed. He saw Hafthor battling a giant octopus, they were both strong but Hafthor had the upper hand, still the octopus was fighting dirty, he had many tentacles and had his minions fighting him as well, Pistris decided to help the king and swam fast at the octopus and ate him, the octopus was no more. Hafthor was perplexed why Pistris was there, he signaled him to go to his cave for a talk, so Hafthor left the battle for a little while. Pistris told him about Alma's labour and told him that he needed to go there fast but Hafthor could not leave, they were in a middle of an battle, Pistris told him he would take his place, he was big and could kill the giant beasts easier than the mermen. Hafthor relented, only because of the cubs. He gave Pistris the command of his men. He gave Pistris a medallion that showed the others that he had the power, with that Hafthor went to see his eggs. Pistris was ready to fight, he wore the medallion proudly but he did not want to command them, they could fight themselves and there was no time for a battle strategy anyways. Pistris decided to go in hard and eat any enemies he saw and that is just what he did, he killed whales, orcas, seals, walruses and any other enemy he saw, he was swift and fought hard, the battle was won by really one beasts, and that was Pistris the megalodon shark.

Alma had weaved a basket for the eggs, she had made a few since Hafthor had told her she might have many eggs even though she thought she would only have a few. She put every egg in the basket with care, Tram had washed them so they were clean, she kissed each and every one of them them and told them she was so excited to meet them, she told them their father would now take care of them of them but she would think of them and miss them terribly. After she had put each egg in the basket she laid in bed while Tram was cleaning her up, she was tired after the birth, she was just about to fall asleep when the earth started to shake, it was no small earthquake, Alma was scared and told them to protect Gudda and the eggs, Odin took her in is arms and took her outside. Tram held Gudda in his arms while Askel, Haffi and Grey cared for the eggs. The earth was moving in waves, Alma was very scared but Odin told her everything would be alright, the quakes seem to last forever but in reality in lasted for just well over a minute. When it was over, the first thing Alma thought about was if everyone was alright and if the animals were okay. Everyone were scared but no one was injured thankfully. Since Alma had taught them to build strong houses no house had been destroyed but still she was scared, she did not know if it was safe or not. Hafthor arrived just as the earthquake ended, he had felt the earthquake and hurried as fast as he could to Alma, thankfully she was not hurt, he ran towards Odin and asked if everyone was alright and thankfully it was so. Odin put Alma in Hafthors embrace so that he could go and check on everyone and everything. Hafthor held his queen in his arms, she smiled at him and told him about the eggs. Hafthor was very proud, finally there would be new mermen in his clan but he was the most happy to become a father. He held Alma in his arms, trying to calm her down, telling her everything was going to be alright even though he had no idea what was going on.
