Dreams

It didn't take long before I dozed off into a well needed sleep.

But I didn't sleep well.

Nightmare after nightmare forced me to wake up.

Each and every time my heart was pounding heavily in my chest and I was sweating, yet I didn't remember what I was dreaming.

Usually I'd remember my dreams - especially my nightmares - but this time they were.. Just not there. All I knew was that I felt horrible and had a bad dream but I didn't know what exactly I was dreaming.

Whenever I woke up I stayed awake for a few minutes, waiting for my heart to calm down, before I went back to bed.

During those minutes I tried to figure out what I was dreaming but I just couldn't.

At least it didn't take long before I fell asleep again.

But after waking up for about 3 times in a row, my body refused to let me wake up.

I had an incredibly vivid and dark dream.

The world I was in was painted black and white.

No sounds were heard except for my own footsteps from walking through an eternal darkness.

No light, no end in sight.

Breathing became difficult. It was as if this darkness was trying to choke me.

My heartbeat became slower by every second increasing the pain as well.

As my legs carried me forward I kept blinking madly, hoping to be able to wake up - to no avail.

But out of nowhere I someone shouted my name, so of course I turned around.

Which was no good idea.

A ghoul was running towards me, holding out his kagune, ready to attack me.

So I ran.

He tried to attack me multiple times, but somehow failed.

Just as I felt one of his limbs go through my body, I fell through something.

Something like an invisible wall.

More darkness.

Again, I blinked.

This time, instead of waking up in my own room, I opened my eyes to candlelight which was surrounding me, lighting up the room.

As I lifted my head I noticed that a lot of people were walking towards me.

They were circling me, trapping me.

Most of them began laughing.

Some released kagunes, others magically spawned weapons.

All of them were older and taller than me, staring down at me.

Just then I noticed I was no longer standing or walking - I was sitting on the ground. Half naked. Literally only wearing a see through robe and my underwear. My arm was fine as well.

It creeped me out.

Even though it was almost pitch black, because the candles didn't light up nearly as much as I hoped they would, I could clearly see the masks they were wearing.

All of them were ghouls, some just didn't want to release their kagune, but all of them showed their kakugan.

I was scared of them.

To see them made me feel more anxious than anything - and I had no idea why.

My body tried to move, but it didn't work.
