Just when I thought I'd pass out from pain, someone picked me up and forced me to stand on my feet. The second I was standing straight, I coughed up a bunch of blood. There was immense pressure on my head making me nauseous while the blood from my wound just kept filling my lungs. I could barely hold my head up, it felt so heavy all the sudden. The poison injected into both of us increased the pain greatly.
"Take them to the car" Kanou commanded.
As someone started dragging me back out of the entrance, I noticed the red stain, my wound, was on the right side of my chest. Kishou pierced right through my right lung which explained why breathing was getting harder by each passing second. Since I was covering Renji, it meant he was going for Renji's left lung.. Perhaps even his heart. Thinking clear was difficult but it didn't take long before that idea came to my mind, bringing me to tears.
I was the first one to be forced down the stairs, Renji followed right behind me. The second we exited the building, I felt like we were being watched but I couldn't lift my head to check. The door of a van opened in front of me and a second later I was pushed inside with my front first. Once more, my head hit the metal ground harshly. I couldn't even groan. Renji was shoved in right after me but he managed to fall on his side, his shoulder catching his weight. He was facing me as the car door closed and the engine started. Our eyes met, I felt it, but I hardly saw him.
"This is all your fault" Renji mumbled angrily.
I knew this was my fault but there was nothing I could possibly do in this state. Instead of words, only blood left my mouth. He didn't appreciate my effort of saving him, not one single bit. It made my heart ache.
Does he hate me now that he knows I'm somewhat related to Kishou..? Could I even blame him for hating me? Kishou killed his sister after all...
My body was growing weaker with each inch the car moved, my eyes almost closed on their own. The pain spreading through my entire body was too much to take, I needed treatment. It didn't even matter to me where they were taking me, I only longed for some pain killers.
If only the effect of the poison would fade.. Perhaps my healing abilities would return.
My eyes were about to close entirely, the warmth of darkness happily inviting me to stay, but Renji kicked my legs.
"Stay awake" he grumbled.
Flinching and inhaling sharply from the sudden impact, I almost choked on my own blood. The rough, unpredictable impact immediately threw me back to my time as a slave. He knew how sensitive I was to such motions, yet he chose to use one of them. It made me wonder if there was no other way of making me stay awake or if he intentionally decided to kick me. Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes both due to the pain and the memories flooding my mind.
"What else should I have done? Stop crying!" he demanded in a mixture between mumbling and shouting.
He could see right through me, he knew that I was experiencing various flashbacks.
Moments where I was about to pass out but they were not done with me. Moments in which I was beaten up for disobeying and close to passing out. Moments when I was already in pain but they didn't think it was enough.
