Brother

"Ahem.." someone gasped.

I snapped my head to the direction the sound came from. By now my eyes adjusted enough to let me see that it was the guy from earlier who was standing behind the bars.

He didn't do anything, he just stood there, watching us.

Where did he come from? I didn't notice that he entered the room.. And why is he not having his light like he used to before..?

"Yes?" I asked to either make him speak or leave.

"Here, more food" he said while throwing a small box my way.

Of course I couldn't catch it but I heard it fall to the ground and reached out to it.

Being curious of what they got us, I opened the box and glanced inside.

I could barely see a thing but it smelled delicious.

"Your surgery went brilliant this time. To heal you have to eat flesh - it'll speed up the healing process tremendously"

"Thanks.. I guess" I murmured.

Can I even trust him?

I'm not too sure about this.. But at least he seems nicer than Kanou and I know that we'll get hungry sooner or later - and we might eat each other if we don't find other food.. So we'll have to eat this I guess..

"Share it with him - he needs it more than you at the moment"

My head turned back at Renji who was just staring ahead.

"Kanou performed tests on him as well. He wants to see how fast actual ghouls regenerate important parts that usually can't be fixed on humans. For example, his tongue. A good part of his tongue was cut off to stop him from talking. Humans can't 'grow' a new tongue, ghouls might be able to. Same goes for his eyes, Kanou removed them. So your boyfriend i-"

Right.. Kanou said Renji was blind.. But I thought he was joking.

And he even did more to him already.. fuck!

Such a sick bastard, he'll pay for this.

"What the hell?!" I shouted as I got up and headed towards the bars where my 'brother' was standing.

He took a step back as I clutched on to the bars.

"Your boyfriend is blind. - I'm not in any way helping this sick minded Professor. I'll get you out of here as soon as I can and then you'll have to get away as fast and as far as you can. Both the CCG and the Aogiri Tree will be searching for you and now that your changing is irreversible both are a great danger to you."

He's right.. I can't go back to my university.. I can't go back to work and I definitely can't come here..

I have nowhere to go.
