After we arrived at our new home, Renji let me unpack everything while sitting on our bed as he prepared some snacks to eat. It took surprisingly long and I could've sworn I heard him turn on the oven but I tried not to bother about it. Maybe the cookies he bought needed that.
We took a short break before getting right into setting things up.
Renji did everything outside, mainly hanging up the Christmas lights, and I was in charge of cleaning and changing the bedsheets, bedclothes and towels.
This old house even had a quite old dryer which helped speed up the process tremendously.
Little did I know that while I was busy Renji headed off to a nearby forest to search for a nice Christmas tree.
He came back at some point, surprising me with a full but not too big tree.
We ended up decorating it together after cleaning up parts of the living room that was located below our bedroom.
It was cute to see Renji's reaction to all of it and the result at the end, he was so excited and fidgety the entire time, showing me a side I don't remember seeing before.
The smile he wore all over his face the entire time was priceless.
Of course I was happy too - seeing him this happy was my main reason, it was rare that I got to see a happy-emotional side of him.
Later that day we decided to head to a rather big Christmas market instead of a small one, it'd take a couple of hours to get there but we wanted to do it anyway. The market would be held near a shopping mall so we could go shop for better clothes and other necessities such as shampoo as well.
At first, I wanted to talk him out of it because I knew it'd be expensive but he insisted on it and immediately looked up the fastest route on his phone.
A few minutes later he found out that we'd have to take various buses and trains to get there within an hour and 20 minutes which sounded very bad to me, knowing I couldn't walk as much. He seemed to understand though as he kept reassuring me that he knew how to make this comfortable to me. I decided to trust him on that, I didn't want my injury to stop our little adventure.
Either way, it was too late to leave on that day and we were both kind of exhausted, so we decided to postpone it to the day after and get a good night's rest.
The next morning we quickly got ready to leave, once again Renji was faster than me and managed our leave by preparing everything we needed.
Suddenly, I heard a loud and clear honk in front of our -.. No, his grandparents - house.
I had no idea who it could be and almost started expecting the worst but once I glanced out of a window I realized that he stole a car. Part of me was relieved to not have to use public transportation, part of me wanted to scold him for doing this. Sure, I was also wondering from whom he took the car to make sure he didn't just use a neighbors car but I believed that he wouldn't be that.. Stupid. He seemed to have noticed my concern and actually told me that he'd return it later, that we basically only borrowed the car. Knowing that the family owning the car would get it back really calmed me down, because I didn't want to cause trouble for anyone - especially since Christmas was coming up.
From that point on it didn't take long before we finally took off.
Even though Renji probably didn't have a driver's license, he was really good at driving. He was a lot less stressed and a lot more concentrated instead.
It didn't even bother him that it started to snow halfway through our ride, leaving the streets covered in a light shade of white.
After around 2 hours, we finally saw the parking lot of the shopping center and managed to enter it a little later.
