Like A Little Kid

After a few more minutes of cuddling, we both got ready to head to an - apparently - nearby shop in hopes to find some Christmas stuff.

Renji said he remembered a small, petite shop to be a few miles away and suggested we'd check it out. Since I had absolutely no clue where we even were, I agreed on his idea.

Our first struggle was finding something to wear in his grandparents' house, though.

It was even colder today than yesterday, so we definitely needed something warmer.

While Renji was searching on the attic, I looked through the wardrobes left in other rooms.

To see that they were still filled with clothes was quite shocking, leaving an uneasy feeling buried within me, it meant that his grandparents were killed without expecting it, they probably had no time to escape - or at least they had to leave this place quite quickly, giving them no time to pack up anything.

Nonetheless, most clothes I saw were suitable for summer or spring, not winter.

Having had no luck in that department, I decided to clean up some parts of the house until Renji would return with something to wear. After all, this house would have to be somewhat clean if we wanted to celebrate Christmas here without choking on dust.

As I was scrubbing some of the floor after dusting it, Renji greeted me with a huge box in his hand.

The box was full of winter related, warm clothing and accessories.. That were beyond old fashioned. They were actually not my type of style at all - but of course I didn't deny wearing them for the sake of my health.

So we chose things to wear rather quickly, not wanting to waste any more time, and then headed to the bathroom to get ready.

At least it didn't take long for either of us to get ready because we could only do the bare necessities - but we were already grateful for that since we couldn't even do that during our stay at Kanou's place.

To not cause any trouble or even a scene, we decided to call a cab instead of stealing another car. Apparently, Renji had left the car he used to drive us somewhere in nearby woods and walked the last bit with me in his arms so that no one would be able to find out about us.

And he also mentioned how he didn't even have a driver's license in the first place - which was a bit scary yet surprising to me, considering how many times he drove without crashing a car or causing an accident.

Once the cab arrived it took us only 15 minutes to arrive at the cute, little shop.

The windows were decorated with Christmas lights, plastic trees, lots of fake snow and gleaming, inflatable figures of Rudolph (the red nosed reindeer) and Santa.

We were definitely at the right place.

"Wow, look at this! It's so cute!" I shouted as I rushed over to the windows, pointing at a small teddy bear wearing a 'Merry Christmas' shirt and holding a heart shaped, even smaller, pillow.

Turning around to check if he was coming along to see what I meant, I noticed how mesmerized he was.

Renji straggled after me, his eyes widen with excitement and fascination, trying to take in every impression.

It took quite a few seconds before he glanced at me and followed my hand, then he smiled and nodded.

"I don't think I've seen something so festive before" he mumbled as he walked up beside me.
