"Yes" Renji blatantly blurted out, causing a deep blush to spread across my cheek.

Hinami started clapping, her lips forming an 'O' before she smiled with excitement while she stormed towards us - well, more towards Renji's side - and gave us both a hug by wrapping her short arms around our necks and sticking her head in between ours.

"That's so cute!" she proclaimed, sort of shouting into both our ears.

I giggled in return and tried to hug her back with one of my arms. Her reaction was uplifting but seeing Toukas glare and Tsukiyamas shocked expression was damping it greatly.

"I'm so happy for you, Renji-sama" she added smiling brightly after she pulled away.

"It sure is a surprise that you found someone" Nishiki murmured.

"Good luck you two" the other female - Kaya Irimi - spoke softly, smiling in a friendly way as she crossing her left leg over her right one and took a sip from her coffee.

"Yeah! Good luck!" the male.. Uuh - Enji Koma - added chuckling a little as Hinami hurried back to her seat.

"Thanks" I replied with a , quickly folding my hands so I could relieve some stress by fumbling around with my thumbs and no one would see it.

Renji hummed in agreement but his expression was stoic as ever. I knew that he usually was rather cold, hard to approach and even intimidating. His harsh and honest demeanor wasn't helping this at all. But I wasn't used to it anymore. The Renji that lived with me was still quite silent but his expression was softer. Therefore he was tensed up as well or perhaps held a grudge against someone in the room - perhaps Tsukiyama.

"Why would you stoop so low as to date a human" Touka brought up, crossing her hands in front of her chest, frowning deeply.

Oh god she is so against us..

"She's a human?" Hinami wanted to know, followed by more glances at us.

Everyone seemed to want to know.

"No" Renji replied.
"Well, you can't tell me she's a ghoul - she doesn't smell like one" Touka argued, "And last time I met her, she was clearly a fragile, incredibly scared and confused human."

So she remembers the first time we met..

This time Renji stayed silent, this was clearly my turn to speak - and everyone's eyes were signaling that they were definitely expecting an answer. There was no way I could simply talk myself out of this. They wanted an explanation.

"I -..uhm..- I'm kind of an artificial ghoul. In case you haven't heard on the news.." I started off, "Th-they reported that I'm actually a half-ghoul but I'm clearly not. I've just been turned into an artificial ghoul by Kanou."
