"No Ryuu, that's just.. That's just Ko-" I wanted to joke, make it seem like it wasn't an issue when it really was but before I even finished my sentence, Renji ran off.
He stormed out of the room without saying any words. Needlessly to say, he was upset - maybe even pissed off - and definitely disappointed. His stomping was so loud, Ryuu immediately started crying again.
"Ssh, love, it's okay" I murmured as I held him closer to me and pressed him against my chest.
"I'll take over.. You should.. Go after him" Koutarou suggested after sighing.
I exchanged glances between Ryuu and Koutarou, considering if I really should. Then I slowly nodded and placed a gentle kiss on Ryuu's cheek.
"I love you" I whispered into his ear before handing him to Koutarou who took him carefully.
The way Ryuu cuddled up to him right away worried me. His tiny hands were placed on his shoulder and on his collar, grabbing onto Koutarou's shirt as much as possible. Before I sat back down, I reached out for a little plushy Ryuu got from Renji and handed it to him. He grabbed onto it and began cuddling that as well. Seeing them so close was very heartwarming but very scary at the same time.
What if he's more used to Koutarou now and refuses Renji.. What if I'm confusing my son with this situation..
After I watched them for a few moments and chewed on my inner cheek, I quickly sat back down in my wheelchair and hurried after Renji.
So far, I hadn't heard the front door so he was bound to be in the house. After I roamed through the entire house - or ..at least the parts I could reach - there was only my room left. My room. So that's where I headed.
Renji sat on a chair near a window, a table in front of him. His hands formed fists who were resting on the table while he stared out of the window. He was tensed up entirely. His body was stiff - he was holding back.
"Renji.. I'm so-"
"Cut it off. It's bullshit. You wanted this, didn't you?" he snapped, his gaze immediately shifting towards me.
I gulped as I approached him. He wasn't exactly showing me that he respected me. Eventually, I was at the opposite side of the table, directly looking at him.
"That's not true I-"
"Ghouls grow faster. The first few years at least" he explained, cutting me off once again as his gaze left mine but his fists clenched.
"What does that me-"
"Didn't you notice that his teeth grew faster? That he's already attempting to speak some words? That he's crawling? That he's considerably more active than any other baby?" he started counting up differences between a human-baby and a ghoul-baby.
