Traitor (Renji Yomo x Reader) [Continued in a second book!]

After I borrowed the book - I decided to only take the biography - from the library we both went home.

The weather had gotten worse and it was really dark outside. We were lucky enough to not end up in a storm or very bad rain. And heck, it was even colder now than before.

Renji just kept quiet. Something was obviously still bothering him.

At home our silence continued.

While I put the book down and prepared to continue my research, Renji just sat on a chair and stared at a wall.

"Wanna come over? We could still look at this together, there may be photos?" I asked.

"I have to go soon. Have to do my job, wanna join in?" he asked instead causing me to look at him in surprise.

"This late?", I said as I searched for a clock, "It's almost 8:30pm and it's already really dark"

"Exactly, that's the point"

"Oh okay"

"So you're in?"

"I guess so"

"Okay"

Through our entire conversation he didn't even lift his head once nor did we make eye contact.

His behaviour really worried me.

"Renji you're acting weird today. What's wrong? .. Any bad news? Something you'd like to share?"

"Mhm"

Fine I guess.. Not gonna pressure him.

"When do we have to leave? I'd like to eat something first"

"In approximately an hour"

"'Kay, guess I'll make food right away then"

"Sure"

Then we went silent again and I headed to the kitchen corner to prepare something.

Knowing my stomach was still very, very sore and sensitive, I decided to go for simple vegetables and a slice of bread. I mean, I wasn't really hungry anyway but I knew I'd regret not eating something.

While I was preparing my food, taking some butter along with some cheese out of our fridge, Renji was still just sitting on his chair.

"Do you need anything from the kitchen?" I shouted towards him.

"No"

Every now and then I glanced over at him but he was still just staring at a wall.
