Over the following four months, your life took a turn to the bright side. Not only were you allowed to join Goat, your relationship with Renji was also incredible. Although he was often quite busy and sometimes you didn't even see him for an entire day. But maybe that was the reason it all worked out so well. Even with limited time, you still managed to go on smaller dates. Every now and then he took you back to the ruins to get some time off of Goat, other times he showed you hidden, secret areas. Renji often brought you flowers or other little gifts to show how much he appreciated you. In return, you helped him with as much as you possibly could and cooked his favorite meal whenever you could. It was seriously going great. There was not even a single slip up on Renji's side, he not once lost control of himself. Whenever he was upset or frustrated with work, he resorted to working out instead of risking Ren breaking through to hurt you.

There was nothing to complain about. You both took it slow, didn't go for intercourse or anything of that sort. You weren't ready and he was patiently waiting for you to be. There was no rushing, you both felt like you suddenly had all the time in the world - the worries of not being able to conceive were washed away the better your relationship got. Of course, you both still aimed to have children someday, though. You simply didn't want to rush.

However, every now and then, when you were skipping another cycle, the fear crashed down again. But he was lovingly supporting you through this, assuring you that it'd be okay. There was no doubt he cherished and loved you to no end. Whenever either of you was going through a bad phase the other supported them. One prime example of that was when the news came around that Chigyou and nurses associated with him were killed because they helped you. That surely shook up your world. The doctor that saved you, tried his best to save your son and organized the funeral for him, was brutally executed for helping ghouls. It didn't make sense, the entire CCG knew about what he did. They knew he was doing researches about ghouls through you.. Yet they still found a reason to execute him.

That didn't only mean multiple families lost precious people, it also meant that you no longer had a tiny bit of hope for getting help. No therapy, no medicine, no talking - no getting better when things would get worse. Throughout those four months, you both still struggled a lot. The death of Ryuu was still weighing you down heavily.. Especially now that Touka's bump was fairly visible. You both hoped for more counseling from Chigyou, even tried reaching out to him by sending a letter but, unfortunately, he never had a chance to reply. The guilt was overwhelming both of you at that time: if he had not tried to help you, he wouldn't have been executed.

After the news of his passing, Renji and some other Goat members headed out and went to grab all of Ryuu's belongings, all memories, the urn, medicine and some clothes of you - Renji packed them because he obviously didn't want anyone to see your underwear nor did he want you to be embarrassed. Not only did they return safely, they brought Koutarou along.

The night they came back, people were awaiting them at the entrance. It was quite a big group - it was way too dangerous outside to go alone or in small groups. They all watched him carry his dead son's urn into the place. People were shocked, their cheering dying down within moments out of respect for the dead.. But then they started whispering. They were silently judging both of you. While tears ran down your cheek, he handed him over to you. Although Ryuu was supposed to be buried for good, you both chose against it until you'd settle down somewhere. In the meantime, you kept holding your ritual every seven days.

Over the days following their return, people avoided both of you. Only the core, those that knew before and Kaneki, spoke to you. Many were unsure of how to approach you, didn't know if you were okay to talk about it - yet also didn't want to seem like they were pitying you. Some were spreading rumors about Ryuu having been killed by you when he really died of poisoning and cancer. The rage against Ayato was burning bright as ever. It was probably the most difficult time for your relationship in those four months. Admittedly, you were arguing. You wanted to tell everyone what he did, ruin his life in return while Renji was trying to find a solution to this without causing harm to his nephew. That lead to lots of arguing. Eventually, you both decided to let it die down.. Let those idiots spread rumors. No matter what you'd say, it'd only cause further trouble.
