Renji's POV:

Guards, CCG investigators, rushed over to us. Weapons were pointed at us, more specifically at (Y/N). They surrounded us, there was no simple way out. We either had to fight or surrender. Glancing over at my beloved, I saw that she immediately gave in, she didn't want to fight. Judging by the number of investigators around us, that was the only choice we had, if we wanted to live, anyway. Someone pulled down her wig, revealing her true hair and pointing a gun at the back of her head right away. I finally dropped the bags I was carrying and prepared to lift my hands as well.

How did they find us..

How did they know about this place..

Did the old lady report it to them? Was this some sort of trap? No, that can't be. I've known her for a while, she was always very supportive of ghouls.

"Yes, yes. That's them. This is very good, my friends."

Lifting my head to stare into the direction of the voice, I saw Kanou. Kanou, next to Chigyou, holding what seemed to be photos. My anger for them immediately rose within, they obviously planned this.

"And that's her ghoul-boyfriend. They've been living together in that weird container you can see right here. They killed some poor humans, one managed to get a shot in and escape while they were busy attacking an innocent civilian" Kanou explained to Chigyou as a gun was pointed at my back, forcing me to lift my hands up, "The shot has been given to me as proof of her evilness and hostility towards humans. What a shame my daughter turned out to be such a monster."

So that's why he broke into my place. He wanted us to kill those ghouls, so he could create another story constructed on lies.

"That's not true!" my love shouted, seemingly having noticed that Kanou and Chigyou were present.

They pushed her down on the ground right away, forcefully pulled off her backpack and rammed a needle into her back. She yelped in pain as soon as the tip touched her skin and tried to struggle it off but it was to no avail. More investigators surrounded us once they noticed how I was watching them every move. One of them grabbed her wrists and twisted them, making her groan as he put handcuffs on her. The way they treated her for speaking up about herself - and even saying the truth - sickened me, so I quickly moved and pulled the investigator off and away from her, punching him to ensure he'd regret his decision. I simply couldn't stand seeing someone hurt her. In return, a needle was punched in my back and within a few moments, liquid spread through my body that made me feel weak. Then they tried to handcuff me, but I didn't let them. Various bullets were sent flying through the air, towards my body but only few of them actually hit me while I tried to hit as many of those investigators as possible. I hit none of them. The substance inside of my body made it hard to breathe and moving, especially attacking, became painful. Some of those faintly familiar faces started laughing, barely trying to dodge my attacks. In the end, a simple slap on my back forced me to stumble against a wall. They cuffed my hands while I was losing balance. This was a substance I never had to deal with before. It was new. Not only was I unable to release my kagune, it also affected my health.

"She's saying the.. T-truth!" I called out in defense to her, turning my head to look at her.
