About 30 minutes later I finished my breakfast and got ready to leave. I was eating on the couch, Renji - if he even ate - ate somewhere else, we didn't eat together.
Either way, it was delicious.
Renji took a quick shower while I was still eating and once we were both done for good, we left.
He was walking right beside me this time - I didn't know why, but I didn't exactly mind either. It made me feel a lot safer.
None of us spoke, which made me feel a little bad, so I wanted to break the silence.
"Hey uh.. Can you enlighten me about what happened last night? Everything's just a blurry mess to me.." I asked as I glanced over at him.
"You had a nightmare. You woke up, I checked on you. You fell asleep on me" he summed up.
I furrowed my brows: "Is that all? I feel like it was something really meaningful.. I just can't remember it.."
"Later.." he mumbled.
I sighed: "Okay.."
Silence.
Again, no one spoke and we just kept walking.
I didn't like this.
"Is there anything on your mind?" I asked, trying to sound curious.
After all I hardly knew anything about him. I wanted to get to know him better.
"No" he simply said.
"Nothing at all?"
"Well.. beside having to babysit you and therefore having to pay good attention, nothing"
Babysit? Seriously..?!
"Babysit? Is this what you call babysitting?" I frowned and stopped walking entirely because he was upsetting me or well.. His attitude was.
He kept walking, ignoring me.
"I'm talking to you!" I shouted.
We were still close to his house, so basically in the middle of nowhere, no one was here so I didn't care about being loud.
"Yes it is" he answered while he kept walking.
"Oh really? And what about the girl from Anteiku, Touka? That is not babysitting but spending time with me is or what?!"
Now he stopped walking as well, turning around to face me: "You can not compare these things"
"Why?!"
"She can defend herself. You're just a human, you can't" his voice was low, his eyes were piercing through mine.
