As I tried to calm myself down by breathing with made-up, slow rhythm, the waitress knocked on my cabin asking if I'd be fine. She was being so persistent, she even threatened to call the ambulance if I wouldn't leave the cabin right away.
Of course, I had to follow her orders sooner or later - unless I wanted to be recognized.
After I exited the bathroom Renji was seemingly worried and already waiting for me, my coffee had been filled into a to-go cup and the sandwiches were eaten.
Before any of the waiters or waitresses would ask a billion questions, we decided to leave.
It was still quite early but we ended up going to the Christmas market right after putting our bags into the "borrowed" car. Renji didn't ask any questions about what was wrong, I assumed he could tell by my expression and after all, we were in public.. Someone could hear what I'd say and we couldn't risk that. Even though it still bothered me and I somehow still felt sick - of myself.. My ghoul-self - I tried to push it aside for as long as possible, I didn't want to ruin our 'date'. Something about Renji expression told me that he wanted to know what was bothering me, he could probably tell - but once again, due to being in public we couldn't speak about it. Anyway, just to make sure I would be able to walk on my own Renji even re-parked the car to a closer place.
The market was lit up brightly, lots of various different colors it was very easy to spot as all you had to do was follow the bright light leading you the way.
Various people were dressed up as Santa and elves, taking pictures with children and even handing them little surprises such as cookies.
But as soon as we entered that market I started feeling suspicious, I felt as if someone followed us. The place was unfortunately too packed to actually make out a person that could be following us, though.
Even Renji noticed that I checked who was behind my back every now and then but I told him not to worry - after all, I never saw a somewhat familiar face or someone that's been behind me before.
Nonetheless, the market was really huge and full of typical Christmas stuff along with some specialized Japanese goods.
We managed to take a photo with one of the Santa's as well! It was printed and given to us right away as someone else took a photo with an instant camera. We both had a pretty derpy expression but it was a nice memory to have.
Beside that, we also bought a few cute souvenirs that we could use for our small celebration.
What really bothered me was that all the smells that I used to love were smelling horrible now, it all just added up to me feeling sick - and Renji probably hated it too, so we tried to stay away from those booths.
Cinnamon.. Something I really loved during winter suddenly turned into dirt mixed with and bodily waste.. - it was beyond disgusting.
Altogether it was still enjoyable but.. Very different from what I imagined it to be like.
But the pages started turning when someone bumped into me with such force I was completely pushed into Renji's shoulder.
The person glanced back at me, his eyes piercing right through mine, smirking as if he knew me. And hell, he knew me.
As soon as our eyes met I realized who he was: he was one of the guys doing horrible things to me, a member of the Aogiri Tree.
While I was frozen in place, Renji prepared to run after him but as he noticed that I was clinging onto his arm, he stopped.
My heart was sent into overdrive and my body was shaking violently - and the impact hurt a lot.. My body was still very fragile and that just made it worse in some places.
