I let him take the MRI scan(s) without any further complaints. To me, it was not just a scan but something that'd help him believe me. Something that'd grant him proof and me - hopefully - a way out. Kanou was waiting outside while Chigyou readied the scans and I got dressed again. Chigyou asked multiple times if I could share some of my information, my point of view, with him and after some debating, I told him all of it. From how I was abused as a child to when I became a slave and at some point got adopted. I left out the details but gave him a rather brief introduction. Judging by his expression, it was enough for him to understand what I've been through. Before my tests were over, he took a blood sample.

And then he sat down on his chair, behind his desk and clipped the scans to a wall. He gestured for me to sit in front of him so we could discuss what he saw. After I had sat down, he flicked on a switch which caused a tiny bit of the wall to light up, giving us a better view of the scans.

"Now, let's have a look at this. Mmh, we should begin with your body" Chigyou began speaking as he pointed to the print he was talking about.

"Shouldn't Kanou enter?" I wondered, not wanting to make him suspect anything.

"Well, you might be right. This is important for him, too" Chigyou agreed as he turned his face to the door, "Can you go get him, Amon-san?"

My eyes widened as he mentioned Koutarou Amon; I didn't know that he was with us this entire time. Looking over at him, our eyes met. He seemed quite affected by what I shared, yet tried to maintain a cold manner. One on hand it was great that someone else heard some of my story but I was also fairly embarrassed - after all, he saw me in my underwear and we used to be colleagues.. And friends.

Amon nodded in return and left the room.

"I'll ensure that you'll receive untouched dinner today and that you'll be given medicine to treat your pain and.. Illness. Kanou might be against that, so I won't mention it again. This will be a secret between us, okay? Once I can be sure that your healing is going good, I'll find a solution for your situation. I can't promise you that you'll be entirely free. You might still have to work with us but only by letting us check on you every now and then. If you want to, you can imagine it as a job. Joining us once a week to let us ensure you're fine. No painful tests, no danger and you won't be held captive. - Again, keep this a secret. If Kanou knows about this before everything is already on its way, he might stop us. Please trust me in this case" Chigyou informed me as soon as Amon was gone.

Though I really hoped to cut all ties with the CCG, this sounded like a good solution to me. It was at least 500x better than being a slave. Though, of course, I could still be captured by the Aogiri Tree after all of this was over. But I tried to imagine Kanou getting in incredible trouble after my story would be revealed and that I might be protected by the CCG because I'd be an important "employee" to them.

"Y-yes. B-but what about Koutarou? A-and.. Why do you even want to help me?" I asked, hoping to get an honest answer from him.

"Amon? Because he heard everything?"

"Yeah"

"I trust him. He's against ghouls by nature and because of his past but he told me you two were friends... The moment he saw you when you arrived, was quite a shock to him. You were a complete, bloody mess. You were not a terrifying ghoul that he wanted to kill but a sad and horrified ghoul he wanted to help. Somehow, he saw that you're not as bad as he thought. It left a huge impression on him. He's concerned for your well-being and simply doesn't want you to suffer."
