Today's verse: John 15:18-19
NIV: If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
NCV: If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as it loves its own. But I have chosen you out of the world, so you don't belong to it. That is why the world hates you.
Meaning: The worldly people all hated Jesus. Many of them saw him as a threat. They didn't like seeing the power he brought forth. They hated him, they crucified him. If you are a follower of Christ, you no longer belong to this world. You belong to the Heavenly Father. When people go against what the world is doing it angers people. As a follower of Christ you go against what the worlds people are doing. If you were just doing what everyone else is, the world would love you! God loves you so much and has chosen you. Your no longer the worlds. This is why the world hates you.
Take action: Next time your feeling down, like the world hates you remember the world hates Jesus too! But, his love for you trumps everyone's hate!! Don't worry about the people of the world, there will come a day when you will live forever with so much love and all of the people that belong to the "world" will perish painfully! Then you will realize being hated on by the world was totally worth it! When you get down or are shaken in your faith remember this post and verse, it will really help!
