Haggai 1:3-6

NIV: Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai:"Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?" Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it."

Meaning: As Christians, it is easy to let worldly things distract us from God and take away from our relationship with our Heavenly Father! This is what happened to the Israelites in today's verse. So basically, the Israelites had been in exile for a very long time and had just returned home and quickly started rebuilding the temple of God, excited to rebuild their place of worship! But, soon the became distracted with rebuilding theirselves homes and left the temple in complete ruins. So their own personal lives totally distracted them from God! This is definitely a topic that could be related into our personal lives... What things are distracting you or what difficulties are you facing that take away from God in our lives? I want to challenge you to find those things, whatever they may be a plan out how you are going to overcome that. For example, turn off your phone while you read the bible so you can focus on Gods word! As a new school year has recently started, we need to focus on God and not be distracted by the things around us!

••• I am going to be for the next 2 posts be doing a mini series type thing as this past weekend we had a special speaker and I really wanted to share some things he said that stuck with me :) This sermon (including today's verse) talked about 'Rebuilding a Heart of Worship' and how important it is to find those distractions in our lives and overcome them so we can live our lives completely for The Lord!

God bless
