Julia walked down the hallway and said bye to Brittany as they split off in two directions. And just as Julia looked ahead, she saw the one person who she really didn't want to talk to right now.
"Hey," the curly-haired boy said, approaching his girlfriend.
"Hey," Julia forced out a smile as she continued to walk down the hallway.
"So I was wondering if you wanted to come over tonight since you haven't been to m-" Layton started, but Julia quickly intervened.
"Layton, uh, how do I say this in the nicest way possible..." Julia trailed off as Layton furrowed his eyebrows.
She never tried to say things "as nice as possible" unless she was around her foursome. It went against the entire image and reputation she had built for herself.
"Can you like...leave me alone for a bit?" Julia said, unlocking her locker, glancing over at her boyfriend for a mere second.
"Uh, okay. But, can I ask why?" Layton questioned, crossing his arms and digging his nails into his own skin, a way of containing his anger.
"Well...I'm, uh, performing a song in glee club and...I'm kinda nervous about it, so..." Julia's voice faded out, the girl not knowing what else to say without directly telling him that she was performing a duet with Santana.
"Oh, okay. I'll see you later, babe, okay?" Layton grinned, leaning down to kiss Julia's cheek as his girlfriend fakely smiled up at him.
"Yup, see ya," Julia said, focusing her attention back onto locker and grabbing her phone.
Layton walked away with a cocky smirk, coming to a conclusion.
That song's totally gonna be about me. Why else would she be nervous?
Layton looked up and realized Santana was walking by him. The Latina looked up at the tall boy who's smirk grew larger.
Suck on that, Satan. I win.
The cocky boy thought.
If only he knew.
Santana simply furrowed her eyebrows before rolling her eyes as she walked toward Julia. Layton looked over his shoulder, his eyes following the brown-eyed Latina as she walked toward Julia.
Julia quickly put her phone away at the sight of her best friend, the two greeting each other before they wound up in fits of giggles as always. Afterward, they linked their arms and walked in the opposite direction of Layton.
The sophomore was now confused again, wondering why Julia would be fine around Santana, but wanted to get away from him as quick as possible. He really was clueless.

Banjo strings rang out in the choir room as Holly joined in on her guitar, sitting in between the two Latinas. Julia turned her head to look over at Holly, the blonde giving Julia a warm smile before Julia fixed her attention on Santana.
Obviously, pretend Brittany is Julia
I took my love and I took it down
Santana looked back over at her best friend, giving her a small smile before it melted away.
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
The two girls stared into each other's eyes, Julia lightly chewing on her lip as Santana looked her best friend up and down, realizing just how in love with the green-eyed girl she was.
