There is a trigger warning for this chapter and I will say when it is (and when it ends) and what it is for when it gets to that part.
Santana and Julia spent the rest of their night watching either sappy romantic movies like the Titanic or teen comedies like Mean Girls whilst eating homemade ice cream sundaes they had made from the many different types of ice cream in Santana's freezer and the variety of chocolate and sprinkle toppings.
Because who needs dinner.
But for Santana, the best part of the night was going to bed with Julia in her arms.
Yet the worst part of the night was waking up to soft sobbing. Santana's eyes groggily opened, noticing that Julia had crept out of her grasp and was curled up in a ball on the other side of the bed, her back facing Santana.
But what broke Santana's heart the most was hearing Julia trying to keep her sobs quiet for the second time that day.
"Julia?" Santana asked in a deep and husky voice. "Baby?"
The sudden call of her name made Julia freeze in place.
"Baby, are you okay? Nightmare?" Santana questioned.
Julia couldn't take it anymore and caved. She flipped over so she faced Santana, burying her face in Santana's chest, her cries becoming louder.
"I lied," she choked out.
"About what?" Santana wrapped her arms around Julia's torso, pulling her best friend into her body.
"I had a nightmare about it again," Julia cried out.
"About what?" Santana repeated her question.
"The bruises. It was...Layton."
TRIGGER WARNING: Physical abuse
Flashback
Julia and Layton stood across from each other in the middle of Julia's room. Julia typed away at her phone, a small smile on her face, as Layton stared at the girl with his arms crossed.
"Why don't you spend time with me instead of texting?" Layton whined.
"Well, you did just show up at my house with literally no warning so I'm technically not obligated to spend time with you," Julia said without picking her head up from her phone, clearly annoyed.
Layton clenched his fists and grit his teeth. He was at his boiling point.
"You're constantly just wanting to get away from me when I'm your boyfriend, what is wrong with you? Any normal girl would love having such a great jock boyfriend like me. But I guess you're not normal, aren't you?" Layton said, his voice laced with anger as he took a step closer to Julia who finally looked up from her phone. "I am more important than that stupid phone of yours and whoever you're texting."
"What are you doing? Just leave me alone," Julia defensively said, taking a step back as Layton continued to approach her.
"No!" Layton angrily yelled, hitting Julia's phone out of her hands as the Latina gasped, immediately crouching down to grab it, but Layton pushed the girl away and into the wall, making a slamming noise.
Layton reached down and snatched the phone off of the ground and scoffed when he saw the screen.
"Santana? Really?" he said her name like it was nothing, making Julia more than angry.
But she was way too scared of what Layton was capable of to actually do anything about her anger.
"You're such a fucking slut! Or you're just a fucking dyke!" Layton said, before throwing Julia's phone at the wall with all the power in his entire body, Julia jumping as it crashed into the wall before falling to the ground, the screen completely shattered.
