"Come on, we have to go," Julia said, grabbing Santana's hand and dragging her off of the football field.

"What?" Santana asked, shivering after a cheer practice in the freezing cold, though the temperature didn't seem to faze Julia at all as she rushed Santana into the parking lot.

But Julia's hand in hers brought a bit of warmth back to her body.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you, we're going to see Isla," Julia turned back with a cheery smile that made Santana's day just a bit brighter.

"Wait, what?" Santana asked with chattering teeth as she stuffed her free hand into her pocket.

"Isla texted me from my mom's phone this morning and she managed to convince my mom to let her go to a 'friend's house'.  So we get to pick her up," Julia beamed, Santana almost just as happy seeing her girlfriend so happy.

Julia temporarily released Santana's hand to jump into the passenger seat while Santana walked around the car to hop into the driver's seat.

"We need to hurry up so we have time to grab a Christmas present on the way," Julia added as she shut her door, Santana briefly turning toward her girlfriend and studying the smile and illuminated emerald eyes she knew so well.

"What?" Julia asked, noticing the staring and tilting her head slightly to the side in confusion, her ponytail flipping over her shoulder.

"Nothing," Santana sighed, a soft smile spreading across her face.  "You just look really pretty when you're happy."

Julia dreamily grinned back, leaning forward and placing a hand on Santana's cheek.

"And you manage to make me so happy," Julia whispered before letting her lips softly dance against Santana's, slowly pulling away after a few short seconds causing Santana to pout.

"Come on, we gotta go, we're gonna be late," Julia told her whining girlfriend as she leaned back in her seat.

Santana reluctantly fastened her seat belt and started the car engine.  But Julia managed to make it all worthwhile when she slyly slid her hand into Santana's, Santana biting her lip to hold back a dumb smile and the butterflies that lurked in her stomach at the small but powerful gesture.

She had never known that it was possible to be so head over heels for another human being.

Santana's car was parked in the parking lot of Isla's elementary school, Julia standing just outside, leaning on the car with her arms crossed over her chest as she almost froze to death.  Yet she talked and giggled at Santana's jokes through the open car window, Santana still seated in the driver's seat.

Children streamed out of the school, as Julia scanned through the sea of students while adjusting her sunglasses which she had adopted as her foolproof disguise to prevent anyone that knew her from recognizing her.  Though the Cheerios uniform, the freckles, and the unique smile gave it all away and made it less 'foolproof'.

But Julia didn't care much when she spotted a similar smile and a small eight-year-old running up to her.  Julia ripped off her sunglasses and opened her arms, a grin spreading across hers and Santana's faces at the sight.

No words needed to be said as Isla jumped into her older sister's arms, Julia lifting the third-grader off of the ground and pulling her closer with a groan, unaware of how heavy her little sister was.

"Damn, you got a lot heavier...and taller too," Julia said as Isla pulled her head away from Julia's shoulder to look into her sister's eyes and wrapped her legs around Julia's waist.
